7 Famous Easy Riffs for Beginners

Hey guys! Right, now I know what it's like to be a beginner guitarist: it's kinda boring, right?

You keep on thinking - when can I learn that cool riff? - or you just wanna impress others by saying: "Yeah, I can play Guns N' Roses," or whatever.

So I've put together 7 easy guitar riffs.

But before we begin, the "Sweet Child O' Mine" intro tab is not mine, and the credit should go to the member jake_luvs_bex, as this intro was tabbed by him (I just included it, as it's a pretty good tab).

Enjoy!

you may want to change the title of this post to a few cool riffs. i remember just beginning and i had the exact same sentiments about playing the cool licks, but i think that an actual lesson should include techniques or material that can be applied to a variety of songs or styles and teach one how to improve their guitar playing.

The numbers mean which fret you will be placing your finger on.

no, you just need to take it easy and just keep challenging yourself to play through the notes. once you can confidently get through the notes, then consider getting yourself up to speed. once youv'e got those down, you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed. heres a weird tip... try playing in the mirror. it'll help you not to look at your hands.

they mean the frets on said strings. for example if it says like 15 then that means the 15th fret on that particular string, and so on.

i play guitar for about 2/3 months now im havin a hard time playin these is that normal or do i suck ?
    Firezz389
playing a tab is normal if your having a hard time! There is not a tab that is easy to do, you just need to keep practising!

I thought several of the songs had difficult timings and were a bit fiddly for rank beginners. As a nirvana fan I found their songs were very easy to learn quickly, its power chords but the tempo is generally slower than metal or pop punk, so a good introduction to playing power chords. There's all sorts of good songs for beginners though whatever you're into

Oh dear..guys i posted this lesson ages ago (a couple of months after picking up the guitar), and it seems UG pulled this up and posted it on the homepage, so please forgive any errors i may have made..and by god my language..i was 13. Theres an infinite number of 'famous, easy' riffs out there that are far more popular than the ones I've put up, these just happened to be my preferences at the time. Nonetheless, hope they help, and feel free to comment with riffs that you feel would be better suited for beginners. Cheers!

you read as you would standing over the fret board I think its the bottom string is the top as you go up the string number goes down. Hope this helped

Some good ideas but maybe a bit difficult for beginners. I'd simply Iron Man into a single line melody and Sweet Child O Mine you can play down the octave using open strings.
    Guns_O
For beginners I´d suggest: - Come as you are Nirvana - Satisfaction Stones - 7 nation Army White Stripes - Break on through The Doors - Another one bites the dust Queen And a little bit more "advanced" but still easy to play - Are you gonna be my girl Jet - Paradise City GnR main riff 3-1-2-3 etc... - Always on the run Lenny Kravitz I hope these riffs will help you get started. Also, be patient, at first it might seem it takes for ever to learn a song but in time it ´ll get easier, you just need to practice, practice, practice

This is a cool collection of riffs, but I would not call them "beginner". Here's some suggestions from some of the same artists: "Flight of Icarus" by Maiden "When I Come Around" by Green Day Three things to think about when classifying difficulty: 1.How many strings are involved and how often and in what ways do they change? 2. Hand position: Does it change? Does it skip frets? Etc. 3. Speed/tempo

Wasting Love? That's most distinctive Iron Maiden riff you came up with? what about Trooper or Number of the Beast? That's like pulling a riff from Metallica's Load Album.
    jake.boast1
iron man is easier as lowerE: 7,7(slide to 10),10,12,12,15,14,15,14,15,14,10,10,12

The tab for Numb is awkwardly low on the fretboard, easier to use the 9-12 frets, and play on the next string.
