Tablature (or tab for short) is a form of a musical chart showing instrument fingering rather than musical pitches.A guitar tab shows the strings on the left from the high E on top to the low E on the bottom. A guitar tab is read from left to right. An example of a guitar tab would be like the one below: "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones
e|---------------------------------------------
B|-----5--7--8--10--8--7--5--5----4--5--7--5--4
G|---------------------------------------------
D|---------------------------------------------
A|---------------------------------------------
E|---------------------------------------------
This tab shows all 6 guitar strings. This shows that you are playingthe 5th fret then 7th and so on, on the B string. The closer together that the numbers are on a tab is how quickly they are played one after another. Try this tab out! A Hammer-On A Hammer-On is another or multiple notes played by only one being picked. These are what you usually hear in fast solos. To do this pick a note and with another finger hit a higher note.Try this out.

B|-------5h6-----------------------------------

A Pull-Off A Pull-Off is very similar to a Hammer-On which I mentioned earlier. A Pull-Off is is another or multiple notes played by only one picked note. To perform a pull off place a finger on the fret before the one your about to play. After strumming your note pull your finger off to expose the one sitting on the lower fret before your note. Try this tab below:

B|------4p3------------------------------------
G|----------5p4--------------------------------
D|--------------6p5----------------------------
A|------------------7p6------------------------
E|----------------------8p7--------------------
Bending: Bending is to play a note and while holding it you bend push it up or pull it down. This will make your note sound higher or lower to get unique sounds. Try this tab below and see the difference.

G|--3-3-4-5-4-3-1------|--3b3b4b5b4b3b1--------
D|---------------------|-----------------------

E|---------------------|-----------------------
Vibrato: Vibrato is a sound that makes one note sound higher and lower rapidly. To do this you play your note normally, but you bend it up and down repeatedly. How fast you do this is up to you and what you think sounds good. Try it.
e|----------------3~---5~---7~-----------------

Sliding: Sliding is a great technique thats easy and sounds similar to Hammer-Ons. To perform a slide you simply strum a note and slide that finger up or down the neck to a higher or lower note. Try this out.
e|---------------------------------------------
B|------------------1/3--3/5--5/7--7/9---------
G|---------------------------------------------
D|--6/11---9/6---------------------------------

Ringing: Ringing is just playing a note and keeping your finger on the fret so the sound keeps going. You will see a note that is supposed to be ringing in between brackets.
