Types of Guitars & Posture for Beginners

Hello everybody! This video is dedicated to the COMPLETE beginner. I will show different types of guitars and how to properly hold them while sitting. I hope this helps some of you out. Thank you!

Ultimate Guitar

Posture 1 / Standard Posture

  • Sit at the edge of your chair
  • Keep both feet flat on the floor
  • Keep your knees at a comfortable distance
  • Keep your heels under your knees
  • Sit up straight; don't hunch over
  • Relax your shoulders
  • The guitar should rest on your right leg

Posture 2 / Classical Posture

The exact same as Posture 1 EXCEPT:
  • Have an object such as a guitar footstool under your left foot to elevate the guitar
  • The guitar should rest on your left leg

Ummm.....nice video. I don't think I've ever held a guitar with correct "posture" and I've been playing for a while, haha. I guess beginners will benefit from this. Don't worry I'm giving you a good rating, haha. BTW is this specifically for classical guitarists?
Hey JESUSFREA343, I don't think this video is SPECIFICALLY for classical guitarists but be aware that I am a classical guitarist so I approach it in such a way. Usually standard posture is the way lots of beginners start off with and there's nothing wrong with that. Personally, I am more comfortable with classical posture
