a besic summary of the pentatonic scale.

Hello ulimate-guitar.com! Today I'm going to explain the pentatonic scale. Now you're probably asking yourself "What are pentatonic?"The prefix "Penta" means 5 and the suffix "tonic" means tone. Basically it is a 5 tone scale. a pentatonic scale excludes the 4th and 6th. For example a C pentatonic would be C_D_E_G_A_C On the first two strings of your guitar that scale would look like this
        0 3 5 7 9 12
str1 . }--.-.--.-.-.--.
str2 }.-.-.--.-.--.-.
Maybe you've realized the pattern.
 \| 3 4 3 |\ \|
.--. .-. .--. .-. .-. .--.
-.-. .-. .--. .-. .--. -.-.
Remember that this is a C scale pentatonic. If you would like to move to a different key move everything up or down so many frets. Right now you understand how to play pentatonic on only the first 2 strings. If you wish to fully understand pentatonic pay close attention to what I'm going to say.
      \| 3I 4 3II |\
    |.--.| |-.-.| |.--.| |-.-.| |.-.-|
\| |-.-.| 3 |-.-.| 4 |.--.| 3 |-.-.| |\ |.--.|
    |.-.-| |.--.| |.-.-| |.-.-| .|--.-|
3 |.-.-| 4 |.--.| 3 |.-.-| |\ |.--.| \| |.-.-|
    |.--.| |-.-.| |.-.-| |.--.| |.-.-|
4 |.--.| 3 |-.-.| |\ |.--.| \| |-.-.| 3 |.-.-|
The following two strings are the next step in the \|343|\ pattern. You're going to find that pentatonic will help you a lot with you playing, writing, and soloing. Practice them every day.

either this doesn't make any sense or its been so long since I've learned pentatonics that they decided to change the format to being writen in some alien language I spent five minutes trying to make sense of this: .--. .-. .--. .-. .--. or in earth language it would be kind of like: period-dash-dash-period, period-dash-period, period-dash-dash-period, period-dash-period, period-dash-dash-period I'm pretty sure this is the most confusing attempt at explaining pentatonics that I have ever seen.

Im sure the author had the best intentions, however its not very clear, should follow the standard "language" format. It would be great if he could re-write it, could be very usefull...good luck.
