In this lesson, I am going to show you a technique which I use to warm up both my hands.

About the lick:

This lesson feature a three note per string lick. This lick warms up both your fretboard hand and your picking hand as it incorporates alternate picking, synchronisation between the hands and position shifting.

The lick covers the A, D and G strings and moves up and down the fretboard.

So lets look at the lick:

For the first position we will be using the 1st, 3rd and 4th fingers. This position uses a tone to semi-tone stretch.
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------------------12-14-15-14-12----------------------------------------|
D|----------12-14-15-----------------15-14-12-------------------------------|
A|-12-14-15------------------------------------15-14-12---------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
For the next 2 positions we will be using the 1st, 2nd and 4th fingers. These positions use 2 whole tone stretches.
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------------------10-12-14-12-10----------------------------------------|
D|----------10-12-14-----------------14-12-10-------------------------------|
A|-10-12-14------------------------------------14-12-10---------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|------------------8-10-12-10-8--------------------------------------------|
D|---------8-10-12---------------12-10-8------------------------------------|
A|-8-10-12--------------------------------12-10-8---------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
For the final position, use your 1st, 2nd and 4th fingers again. This time using a semi-tone to tone stretch.
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------7-8-10-8-7-------------------------------------------------|
D|--------7-8-10------------10-8-7------------------------------------------|
A|-7-8-10--------------------------10-8-7-----------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

So there you have it. This lick is meant to be for warm up use, so take your time and mess around with it. For example, moving the lick up the fretboard means your fingers have to do bigger stretches. Have fun with it and most importantly... KEEP IT CLEAN!

Such a robotic and uninspired lick, even for a warm-up

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the criticism and I'll look into making these sort of licks more interesting. This is a warm up which I find quite beneficial to my warm up routine so I though I would share it.
