Drummer Josh Freese will not be sitting behind the kit for A Perfect Circle's summer tour, which runs for approximately six weeks, in order to honor a commitment to geek-rockers Weezer. Freese is nothing if not a noble man for not giving up on his previously scheduled responsibilities.

Freese posted the following note about his absence from the APC tour on his website:

"I'm sad to report that I will be sitting out the A Perfect Circle tour this summer. Maybe the hardest decision I've ever had to make professionally and it hasn't been easy on me. I've been looking forward to APC reforming for years now and the timing just couldn't have been worse. I'd already committed the time to Weezer and I am a man of my word. As much as I hate to have to miss the APC tour there wasn't a whole lot I could do about it.

"I get asked all the time how I manage to 'do it all.' Well, usually I do 'do it all' and it's a combination of working really hard and driving myself and my family a bit crazy. But Sometimes it doesn't work out and this time I'm forfeiting something very close to my heart and something that I take a great deal of pride in. I've never apologized to fans of a band for not being able to be there for something so I'll take this opportunity to do it here. I'm sorry that I'm not going to be there with APC this summer. I've missed other tours with other bands over the years but this one has been the toughest pill to swallow.

"The APC guys have been unbelievable [sic] cool, understanding and supportive about my situation. Yes, they're bummed but no, they don't hold it against me and all is well with us. They are true friends and I'm very much remaining the drummer in the band and look forward to being involved again on whatever we venture off to do next. Hope to see you guys out at a show sometime either later this year or in 2012......ya never know."

Thanks for the report to Noisecreep.com.

Respect him for not bailing on them at the 11th hour, but definitely would've loved to see him with APC in Cinci this August.

Well this makes me feel a little bit better about forgetting to buy tickets before they sold out in Atlanta. I would have been furious if I had paid $100 for a ticket to see my favorite drummer and singer in concert to hear that one of them had to back out.

Freese is pure class. Period. And Friedl is (sorta) part of the family, so if Billy Howerdel picked him to sit behind the kit, is because he can't possibly be too bad.

A bit disappointed, really like this guys drumming, was looking forward to seeing him play with APC. Wish he'd get out of Weezer already, I love Weezer and Josh, but Weezer was better off with Patrick back on drums...and Josh touring with APC.

Yeah he's in Ashes Divide so it shouldn't be too bad. But Josh Freese is one of my favorite parts of APC. I'm not even a drummer either, he just has this feel of being all over the place but he's so dynamic and controlled

That's the problem with being one of the biggest session drummers in the world. At least he's still in the band. If any band can be considered Freese's main band, it's APC.

Tim Alexander played on a couple APC tracks, and he dipped out on Primus again, why not try and get him?

Respect to both Freese and APC. APC also showed enormous class by not being ticked at Freese

Weezer's drummer decided he wanted to play guitar

That kinda sucks, mainly because he gets stuck with Weezer. Freese is one of the most awesome drummers in the history of music. I had the privilege of seeing him with Nine Inch Nails in 2008, he tore it down on that set.
