In the midst of recording a new album and just weeks before they tour Australia with "Big Day Out" Against Me! have lost their fourth drummer.

Drummer Jay Weinberg took to twitter and his own personal facebook page with a message saying "I want to let you all know that I am leaving Against Me!, and I wish them all the best."

Shortly after, singer Laura Jane Grace tweeted a picture of a drum machine which both Andrew and James retweeting it, sensing some bad blood between Jay and the remaining members of the band.

Jay is the son of long-time E Street Band drummer Max Weinber, Jay filled in for his father when the Bruce Springsteen backing band toured in 2009.

Jay brought some amazing energy to the band after joining back in November of 2010, and has showed some absolutely amazing performances with them. We're sad to see them part ways, and can't help but wonder what's next for Against Me!.

Against Me! are set to perform two "Big Day Out" sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne on January 17 and 22, respectively.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the singer getting a sex change
Probably not. The band have known since February or thereabouts, so I don't know why he'd wait this long to quit over it.
I think it has nothing to do with the sex change and more towards the fact that the rest of the band live in Florida whereas Jay does not, and refused to move there to complete the new album.
