While the late singer Amy Winehouse - who died a year ago Monday (July 23, 2011) - didn't leave behind a very deep catalog of music, her legacy has continued to live on Billboard's charts.
Winehouse has sold a sum of 855,000 albums since her death in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Comparatively, she moved 58,000 in all of 2010 and 44,000 in 2011 before she died. (In the eight days following her death, she sold 110,000 albums.)
In terms of digital song downloads, she has moved 1.15 million in the U.S. since dying. Again, that's an enormous figure when stacked next to what she sold in the time immediately before death: 170,000 downloads in 2011 (pre-death) and 239,000 in all of 2010. (In the eight days after her death, she sold 281,000 songs.)
Her largest-selling download song since she died has been what is arguably her most recognizable hit, "Rehab", with 275,000 downloads. In total, it has shifted 2 million downloads, with 1.72 million sold before she died. During her lifetime, she notched one top 10 album on the Billboard 200: 2007's "Back To Black", which reached No. 2 on the tally dated March 1, 2008. The album re-entered the chart at No. 9 following her passing, climbing to No. 7 the following week (chart dated Aug. 13, 2011).
Since then, one Winehouse album has been released, an archival set titled "Lioness: Hidden Treasures." The set bowed on Dec. 6, 2011, and debuted and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, selling 114,000 in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. In total, it has sold 423,000 in the U.S. It finished 2011 as the 116th biggest-selling album of the year in the U.S. and currently stands as the 95th biggest of 2012 (143,000 this year).
One of the singer's final recordings was a duet with Tony Bennett titled "Body And Soul", which was released last September and has sold 73,000 downloads. It became only her third hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, reaching No. 87. She had previously charted with "Rehab," a No. 9 hit in 2007 and "You Know I'm No Good" (No. 77 in 2008).
"Body and Soul" earned a Grammy Award earlier this year for best pop duo/group performance, becoming Winehouse's sixth Grammy trophy. She had previously netted five Grammy Awards, including record of the year (for "Rehab") and best new artist.
