The recent list naming Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose as the greatest singer of all time based on vocal range has stirred up the web quite a bit, to such an extent that Mr. Rose himself has issued a response.

Sharing a Spin report, the vocalist explained how he feels "flattered and humbled," but hardly sees himself as the best singer ever.

Axl even went on to share a list of vocalists he thinks should be ranked above him. "From what I could tell, the original article was for the most part only talking about the professionally recorded vocal range of the singers they compared calling the entire group 'The World's Greatest Singers.' It's very flattering and humbling to be included in such an illustrious ensemble," Rose said.

"If I had to say who I thought the best singers were, I'd say first that I don't know there's a definitive answer as in my opinion it's subjective, and second that my focus is primarily rock singers," he continued.

"That said, I enjoy Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Dan McCafferty, Janice Joplin, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Don Henley, Jeff Lynne, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Scott, Etta James, Fiona Apple, Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and a ton of others (predominantly '70s rock singers) and would rather hear ANY of them anytime rather than me! Peace! Axl," the singer concluded.

As reported, the initial list took into consideration only singers who made Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers list. A bit more thorough research subsequently ranked Mike Patton of Faith No More as the No. 1 vocalist, putting Axl down to second place.

Seems like a non-douche in this. I don't feel comfortable with this.
Paradox! Existence, universe and time will collapse soon.. Unless there is something that is balancing all this?
what you want him to be a douche, oh that's right people aren't supposed to turn over a new leaf if it makes you uncomfortable.
If only he was always this humble and grateful for what he has...
He seems to be. Haven't heard Axl saying anything aggravating in a very long time. Even when he went on Jimmy Kimmel he sounded like a pretty chilled guy who is quite involved with his local community.
He doesn't seem like that bad of a guy. I think he just has a stigma attached to his name anymore because of the press Guns N' Roses got back in the day. I actually think Axl seems pretty nice anymore
"Axl Rose doesn't think he's the world's greatest singer". This is awkward: I actually agree with him on something.
Axl Rose being humble. Holy shit. I've seen it all, now. Murika and Korea might as well start WWIII and blow this world up, I don't care anymore.
Just because you have the greatest range doesn't make you the greatest singer. He talks about it like it's a written fact. It's just an opinion.
