Sales of Beastie Boys albums and songs have surged in the wake of Adam Yauch's passing, highlighted by the re-entry of the trio's 1986 album, "Licensed To Ill", into the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart. Upon its original release, "Licensed To Ill" became the first rap album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, hitting that spot in March of 1987 and remaining there for seven straight weeks. Other Beastie Boys albums re-entering the Billboard 200 include "Solid Gold Hits" (#51), "Paul's Boutique" (#56), "Hot Sauce Committee Part Two" (#107), "Ill Communication" (#109), "Check Your Head" (#124) and Beastie Boys Anthology: "The Sounds Of Silence" (#141). In addition, Billboard reports that 151,000 downloads of Beastie Boys songs were sold this past week, up from 14,000 the week before. The top seller was the single, "Brass Monkey", which hit #48 on the Billboard Hot 100. Thanks for the report to Gibson.com.

Fuck you. It doesn't matter if you enjoyed his music or not, he was a HUMAN. He died young in a tragic way, and regardless of his musical talent, you shouldn't be a prick about someone who already went through more than most people can withstand, and died.

Maybe because they were one of the most innovative hip hop acts ever. Coming from a metal-purist, they were and always will be one of the greatest groups of all time. Its sad that it took MCA dying to launch them back into popularity

They were musicians... They played instruments and wrote music... They were punk before rap... They did a jazz album... They stayed true to who they are...

I'm not saying that anyone that listens to the beastie boys should die, I'm just saying they're as bad as nickelback, only I'd rather listen to nickelback.

Is there like, a school or college where you get taught to be such an ignorant pile of cartilage? There must be degrees for that level of pure retardation, I'm sure of it. Coming from someone who listens pretty much entirely to metal; even I can appreciate the talent from Beastie Boys. I'm not saying you have to like them, I just don't get why you need to be disrespectful.

Wow you're an idiot. Beasties will always be one of the biggest acts if all time. Not only were they great at playing their instruments, they were creative as hell when it came to rapping. Can't sing? Go listen to Sabotage and tell me if you can sound like that.

Even though theyre my favorite, I havn't been able to listen to any Beasties for a while. MCA passing away has got me too bummed, and I hadn't listened for 8 months anyway, since I was nearly killed listening to "Hot Sauce" when i got hit by a tractor trailor on the highway.
