Beatles' Secrets Revealed In Book

One of the Beatles most beloved songs contains the words "F**king hell!" The hidden lyric to "Hey Jude" is just one of the revelations in Geoff Emerick's new book "Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the music of the Beatles". Although "Hey Jude" was one of the rare Beatles tracks that Emerick didn't engineer, he reveals in his book that the mix to the song contains curse by Paul McCartney. "Just after the start of the third verse, right between the lines 'The minute you let her under your skin / oh, then you begin,' you can clearly hear Paul curse off-mic, saying 'F**king hell!'" John Lennon caught the curse during the playback and said "Paul hit a clunker on the piano and said a naughty word, but I insisted we leave it in, buried just low enough so that it can barely be heard. Most people won't ever spot it? but we'll know it's there." There have been plenty of "inside story" type books about the Beatles but Emerick gives us the inside story not about the tabloid like going-ons with the band members but instead the inside story of recording of the songs and how the Beatles broke new ground as recording artists. Of course, the book is filled with other interesting tidbits, for example how the album Abbey Road got its name. Many believe it was named in tribute to the EMI recording studios but Emerick gives the real story about the naming of the album. Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the music of the Beatles will hit stores on March 16, 2006 and we should have our review of the book up next week. But for now I can tell you that it is filled with insights about the Beatles and their music not found in most books and is a must read for any fan of the fab four. This is the Beatles book I have been waiting years for. The true stories behind the music. Find much more at Keavin Wiggins' article at antiMusic.com.

who's heard the "****" at the start of greenday's "time of yout life"? get back on the californian grass!

The Beatles are the most awesome band ever period. 1 000 000 000 (est.) sold kinda makes that hard to dispute. I knew about the hey jude thing. I never actually heard it, but I just listened to it then and heard it. Oh and on Backmasking "Our Music Only Goes one way, Forwards" can't remember who said that eith Jimmy Page of John Lennon.

guitarkid583 : now, all we need is Led Zeppelin to admit to backmasking. And Tupac, come out of hiding you sneaky guy, you
lmao reading that made my ****ing day , and my day was shit today

Vismund, people were responding to some ignorant guys who simply said the Beatles "sux", and they're "gay pop rock". I do agree that most people feel they have to like the Beatles but that's true for most classic bands. I'm obviously a true fan, defending my current fav. Oh and, it's actually John who says "Ohh!...f@cking 'ell" after he screws up the words in the backing vocal. How the hell could Paul say it while singing? Listen closer. Trust me this is old and there more stuff too, like the word "tit" in a song etc. BTW, the Beatles were a lot more naughty then people think. And I hate this rewrite of history, they were a ROCK BAND! Certainly more so than many bands out today. VERY BLUES/ROCK/R&B sound. Just because they don't play shitty amps with the "distortion" on 10 doesn't make them pop. Not that they weren't poppy early but even then they still play rock songs.

ah yes the great "beatles ae amazing controversy"vs the beatles suck controversy. let me say for side a that they are way overratd, i am not doubting their influence or their abilty to write music, to side b, u r ignorant people who obviously do not know what you are talking about. and whoever said the beatles invetned rock are greatly mistaken.

i heard it too. He does say 'oh' before it for the who r struggling with hearing it. I don't really understand why this is big news tho. It doesn't change the song, or my view of the beatles.

im not a big fan of the beatles, but i respect everything they have done for the music industry. Someone asked for the exact time that he says the "curse word". I hear it at exactly 2:56 during the song.

i don't personally care much for the beatles(but they don't suck and i definitely respect the fact they practically invented rock) but i don't see the big deal in finding a couple of swears in a song. and i'm really not surprised it's in there at all. now a song that wen played backwards is the transcript of a political cartoon abt issues in 2005 wen the song was written in tha 60's.... THAT wld be interseting.

Dude, even if you dont like music you still have to like the Beatles. You just have to man!! It's a fact. It's a law of nature. If you dont like them then you arent 100% human. And plus, you dont even care about what were talkin about. Your just trying to use big words so all of us hippies will say"far out" or "damn he's smart". Go to school and learn somthing nerd.

LOST TIGER SAID:That's awsome I can't belive how many times I missed that. Dose anyone know of anymore of those little "slip-ins" from other songs? (other than the time of your life one from greenday). You've heard A Day In The Life on Sgt. Pepper's album, not on the 1967-1970 album? In the Sgt. Pepper's version there is the high pitched sound then the talk that's played backwards...then at one point someone says "we **** like supermen"...play the end backwards an you'll hear it...it's quite hard to see, but it's cool...
    Trunx
The Beatles rule, and I'm 13 now! Yeah, the ****ing hell part is at 2:58, listen to it a few times, you hear some talking...then you realise it's ****ing hell they're saying!!!

I can't stand die hard beatles fans (the beatles are nothing special you know! listen to something else once and a while... or are you affraid you'll find something better?)]

That is quite funny and has anyone heard Another One Bites The Dust by Queen played reversed. Freddy Mercury is singing its fun to smoke marijauna

There's a difference between affection and respect. You don't have to like the Beatles, but you have to respect them. You should respect every musician, being musicians ourselves, no matter what they play

llama_guitarist : it's funny how some people are like "dude i don't need the beatles! i listen to ozzy!!!" i have this rolling stone mag with the top 500 songs of all time and ozzy said that his biggest influence were the beatles...so without them no ozzy, and without ozzy no.. a lot of bands
Lemmy of motorhead also was hugely influenced by the beatles after watching them at the cavern club just as they were getting famous... he said without them there would have been no motorhead. The beatles were the most influential band ever

I wonder how much its gunnu cost...

yo ethen, whats up? im sorry that i don't feel that it is worthwhile to dumb down the terms that i think to myself in to allow understanding in the individual who doesn't value clear and intelligent speech. You contradict yourself, telling me that im a nerd (which implies that i have a certain level of knowledge that sets me a part from others which inherently makes me uncool) yet you tell me to go to school, which is a place of learning. I'd in fact get even smarter. I assume that you just want a bigger target for your intellectual frustations. and to catagorize myself into some social class, I would be considered a hippie. i haven't bought new clothes in years, haven't cut my hair in years, i got a scrubby beard, drive a beater van, I work as a graphic artist and i spend all my free money on pot. Its too bad that you yourself have the stereotype ingrained in your head that hippies are retards. You don't have to be insecure in yourself. believe in yourself, my good friend. your igonorant ways may be mended yet!
