Beck on Course for First Number One with New Album 'Morning Phase'

Beck is heading for his first ever Number One on the Official Albums Chart with her new album, "Morning Phase," NME reports.

Official Chart Company data reveals that the US singer-songwriter's latest album is currently ahead of Bastille's "Bad Blood" at Number Two. Beck has had six Top 40 albums in the UK – including a Top 10 with 2008's "Modern Guilt" (9) - but has never managed to score a Number One before. The final chart will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday.

There are four other new entries on this week's Official Albums Chart Update with Wild Beasts new at Number Eight today with their fourth album "Present Tense." Reverend and the Makers are new at Number Nine with their new album "ThirtyTwo" while St. Vincent is on course for a UK Top 20 entry with her new, self-titled album at Number 12. Meanwhile, Schoolboy Q is new at Number 15 with his latest album "Oxymoron," Neneh Cherry is new at Number 34 and Eric Church's "The Outsiders" is new at 38.

Elsewhere, in the Official Singles Chart, Pharrell Williams looks set to return to Number One with his single "Happy," knocking Sam Smith off the top spot after just one week.

Other new entries in this week's Singles Chart at the midweek point come from Tiesto (4), Foxes (7), Paloma Faith (8) and John Legend (10).
