Longtime wresting fan and, of course, rock star, Billy Corgan has started his own professional wrestling company, Resistance Pro, in Chicago.

Nme.com reports that the Smashing Pumpkins frontman will be creative director and come up with storylines for the company that will debut on November 25 at Chicago's Excalibur Club.

Corgan told Fox News Chicago:

"I've been involved sort of behind the scenes with pro wrestling for about a decade and made a lot of friends in the business.

"It's a very insular business and it's a long story, but I essentially got involved with some brothers who had a wrestling promotion. We decided to form our own promotion and we're going to try to bring back the glory days."

Thanks for the report to Andrew Vaughan, Gibson.com

I love the photo. "I'm always thinking, I have many thoughts. I am a deep, insightful person. Hurry up and snap a photo of me trying to decide between a PB&J or bologna sandwiche for lunch."

Random but kind of cool since the WWE hasn't been good since 2003. Maybe Corgan can save pro wrestling haha.

So... it's not actually professional wrestling; just more of that 'wrestling' 'entertainment' bullshit. I find it strange that, as old as wrestling is -- as long as it's been around -- there is no professional wrestling in the US. After you're no longer qualfified to wrestle in the NCAA, it's pretty much MMA, wrestling 'entertainment', or a normal job like everyone else, with the prospect of wrestling in the Olympics. Why is there no actual professional wrestling? it probably has something to do with real wrestling being quite possibly the most dull thing ever
It's still a skill sport. And it's way more entertaining than 'professional' poker, and that shit's on TV every single night, as well as the occasional bowling and darts tournaments. I guess maybe poker's more appealing to the general public, since anybody can do play and anybody can win. It's just a game of luck, with skill and knowledge only needed to win big (and more consistently). I'm not saying I would watch professional wrestling, but it's just weird to me that it's an actual sport and it has absolutely no market. It's way more interesting than watching bowling, darts, or poker, which seem to have a semi-loyal fanbase.

IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMNIT! I kid. But I still find it entertaining at times, and it it's always nice to have a huge slap in the face by nostalgia.

Makes sense really, he's a lifelong wrestling fan. Maybe he'll be able to do things properly, like WWE has been failing at for a good 8 years.

This could be interesting. I love wrestling. It's the only thing on TV I care about. It's a soap opera for men and dammit I love it.

God, I hope not. I mean, it IS a terrible joke, but I don't even watch that show, so if I did it was indirectly. That doesn't bode well ahaha

I have a soap opera for men. It's called the NFL except my soap opera has real life athletes. Not roided up figures pretending to be athletes. Wrestling is like a horrible acting soap opera on Telemundo except they pretend to hit each other by stomping on the ground.

I personally would pick poker over wrestling any day. But that's just me.
