According to Nme.com, drummer Matt Tong has been sparking rumours that he may quit Bloc Party altogether.
Earlier this year, singer/guitarist Kele Okereke stated the band will be going on a hiatus after their current tour. Tong told BBC Subculture he would rather make it a long-term change than just a short break.
"I definitely don't think this will be the last you'll hear of the people who make up Bloc Party," he said. "As for me, I don't know, I wouldn't mind trying something else for a while."
But despite such a statement, Tong made it clear he hopes the band's upcoming hiatus will help them re-energize themselves and become more focused on music.
"We definitely need to have a break and gain a bit of perspective on life outside of the band," he said. "Hopefully if we do reconvene at some point in the future we'll be refreshed and have so many ideas to bring to what it is we do."
At the moment, Bloc Party are wrapping up select dates in the U.K. with their last show scheduled for November 19 at Club Quattro in Osaka, Japan.
