Next year's edition of Bon Fest, an event honoring the late AC/DC frotnman Bon Scott in his hometown of Kirriemuir, was officially rescheduled from the traditional May slot in order to coincide with the planned August unveiling of Bon's statue in town centre.
As Kirriemuir Herald reports, the festival will take place from August 15 to 17. Another fundraiser was also announced for October featuring a headlining performance from the Scottish AC/DC tribute band Volts.
According to the Pulse of Radio, AC/DC gave their endorsement to the statue campaign, fully supporting the organizers from DD8 Music and their efforts for keeping Scott's spirit alive.
"We believe Bon deserves a statue," said committee member John Crawford. "We've commissioned John McKenna to create a life-sized statue which will capture three things: his personality, his stage presence and his Scottish roots. We're appealing to the greatest fans in the world to come together and make this project a reality. We want the statue to be from the fans, for the fans."
As previously reported, the initiative was kicked off by a group of AC/DC fans who launched a Kickstarter campaign hoping to reach the £50,000 sum and finance the statue.
