Brian "Head" Welch has been absent from the ranks of Nu Metal heavyweights Korn since departing the band in 2005 for religious reasons. However, as Metal Hammer are now reporting, the guitarist appears to be returning to the fold for two of the band's Rock Am Ring shows next June. The festival takes place in Germany between June 7th and 9th and will see the band perform alongside the likes of The Prodigy and Bullet For My Valentine and Airbourne.

Welch originally left the band after converting to Christianity, releasing a statement that he had "...chosen the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end." Welch explained his conversion to a Christian radio show back in 2009: "I was walking one day, just doing my Rock & Roll thing making millions of bucks, you know success and everything, addicted to drugs and then the next day I had Revelation of Christ and I was like, everything changes right now!"

Also in 2009, guitarist Munky Schaffer claimed in an interview that Welch had approached the band about rejoining:

"Brian actually contacted us recently and wanted to come back to the band. And it was not the right time... for us. We're doing well, and it's kind of like... It's kind of like if you divorced your wife and she went on and she stayed successful and her career flourished, and you go back and [say], 'My gosh, she's still hot. Baby, can we get back together?' 'Wait a minute... All the stuff's been divided, and it's like...' I don't see it happening right now."

Welch performed with Korn for the first time since his departure in May of this year, joining the band for an encore at the Carolina Rebellion event.

WTF is up with the titles around here? I can understand the odd d-bag trolling with stupid posts, but for the actual website to troll with news headlines is pretty childish.

I personally think Korn's popularity peeked before he left...So it is not like he is trying to get into a better situation.

but i bet they still make bank headlining festivals and shows, plus he starts getting money from merch again which makes a lot of $ for the band because i dont think the label gets a share of it

If Tom Araya can perform Slayer songs while being a dedicated Catholic, Head can be in Korn and stay Christian.

I agree with Munky on this one - If he truly left for reasons of christianity, he should stand by that. I can understand wanted to return to a band you spend the better part of your life in, but like this it seems very low in moral and believability.

So he can't stay Christian and rejoin Korn? Makes little sense.

exactly what I was going to say...plus, Fieldy is Christian and in the band, and I know JD, Munky and Ray all believe in God too, so what's the big deal?...This is awesome news that he is returning! Hope it becomes permanent!

Brian never actually asked to rejoin in 2009. He talks about how it was a big publicity thing that Munky did in his book "Stronger".

Korn's popularity peaked with Mr. Welch in the ranks, their decline began right after he left and Silveria went on a hiatus from the band. Munky is full shit on this one.

if he didnt leave back in 2005 he prb wouldnt b here today, glad he's clean now focused on music an rejoined w/ korn

The main reason he left was cause he was battling drug addiction. If he's in a better place now, nothing should stop him rejoining if the rest of the band are on board with it

I'm gonna stop going to UG if they keep posting up misleading titles to their articles.

Turning to Christianity helped him clean up, and cleaning up got him custody of his daughter, so I give him a million points for that. Leaving was exactly the right thing to do at the time, and if coming back is the right thing to do, then so be it.

doesn't really sound like he's re-joining, just playing a few shows?

About time he rejoined. Now maybe they will release a decent follow up to Take a Look in the Mirror.

I think him rejoining is a great thing... He left and got his shiit together and lets face it... His guitar playing and input is sorely missed if not crucial.

Korn won't be un-terriblified by Head rejoining. They haven't done anything even kinda good in well over half a decade.

I think if he rejoins it would be a better Korn. Just listen to that massive riff of Head's Chemicals. Pure Korn, pure Nu Metal in its original form.

To me, Korn hasn't done anything all that great since the Issues album, way back in 1999.

about damn time! put the differences aside and make some good music again

he probably found christianity when he was on drugs, drugs make you do all sorts of silly things and now that hes clean, realizes how ****ed up christians are, your better off on drugs, and korn need him, **** theyve been making utter crap issues was their last good album

There's no need to insult people's beliefs. If you don't understand it or don't like it, then good for you. But don't insult people like you know more than they do. It's called common courtesy.
    thewhalendave
Kidding? John Davis is a satanist. If Head is a Christian he shouldn't be anywhere around these guys.

I hope there'll be a European tour with Love & Death I actually never liked KoRn, but L&D is amazing.

Yeah I don't completely understand that analogy...At least the part about the stuff being divided...

this man recently admitted that he had been finding it difficult to make money being away from korn! thus he's reasons for rejoining are clear...id tell him to **** off! then again im not in one of the biggest metal bands of the generation
    maxpowweer
I got really excited until I realised it was only for two shows. Something most Korn fans (including) me will miss out on

I'm still looking forward to the new Love and Death album. I'm fine whether he stays or if its just a one off.

Personally I think See You One The Other Side and their untitled album are the best yet.

I read the article title and yelled, "Yes!" Then I read the description and said, "Aw, man!"
