Bruce Springsteen Covers AC/DC's Highway to Hell

Boss opens Australian tour with surprise AC/DC cover.

Bruce Springsteen surprised fans in Perth, Australia on Friday night (February 7th) when he opened his set with a cover of AC/DC's 1979 hit "Highway to Hell." You can check out the video below.

As Rolling Stone notes, late AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott grew up near Perth. "Highway to Hell" was his final record with the group.

The cover version came to a head with a four way guitar duel between the Boss, Nils Lofgren, Steven Van Zandt and Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, who continues to tour with the E Street Band.

The Boss's latest, a collection of covers and reworked songs titled "High Hopes," was released last month. His tour of Australia and New Zealand will continue until March 2nd.

Only Bruce would perform an AC/DC song with a capo on the 8th fret!
Dammit Bruce! Stop playing songs about modes of transportation (even if it's not your song). 90% of his songs are about cars, motorcycles, trains, or highways.

crazy how two bands with totally different sounds can play the same song, pretty much in the exact same way and give such different feels.
Nice one Bruce! I am Australian, a lot of big bands that tour here will play an AC/DC song, think it has almost become a tradition. It's good shit! Aussie fans go nuts! Saw Anthrax do 'Whole Lotta Rosie' in Sydney, John Bush dived into the crowd from on top of the ****ing PA stack! Amazing!
Wait, Tom Morello is touring with Bruce Springsteen!? WHY AM I JUST HEARING THIS NOW!?!?!?
