Bruce Springsteen is a musician that certainly falls into the do-gooder category. Now, "The Boss" has been named the 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be presented with the honor on Friday, February 8, two days before the 55th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
In an official statement, Neil Portnow president of the Recording Academy, which gives out the award every year said Springsteen was, "a truly gifted and Renaissance artist of our time, a national treasure, and an exemplary humanitarian. His career is a testament to the power of creative excellence, and his contributions as a philanthropist speak to the tenacity of the human spirit. We are privileged and honored to pay tribute to Bruce this year as our MusiCares Person of the Year."
Springsteen is receiving the award for his various charitable works, social activism and lengthy rock and roll career. The MusiCares Foundation serves to offer financial aid and assistance to musicians in need.
