"I'm hoping to join the tour for the last couple of weeks," says Charlie.

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante is to miss another run of the band's shows after stating that his hand problem from last year has not completely healed, Classic Rock reports. He'll be replaced by drummer Jon Dette for the first leg of the band's European tour. Benante has released the following statement:

"I realised I'm not just quite there yet, especially for the schedule Anthrax has on these dates. I'm hoping to join the tour for the last couple of weeks - but until then we all appreciate that Jon can sit in for me."

The drummer was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome and underwent surgery last August. After playing two US shows with Anthrax last month, he realized that he hadn't fully recovered from the procedure.

It is as yet unknown how Benante's injury has affected progress of the band's upcoming album. Anthrax has been working on the follow-up to 2011's "Worship Music" since late last year. The album is scheduled to be released in 2014.

Coming soon: Jon Dette replaces Shawn Drover. Jon Dette replaces Lars Ulrich. Quite the resume he has.
Dette is pretty awesome! I saw him play in Anthrax and Slayer on the same day! (Soundwave 2013). Tough job!
