Damon Albarn has denied that there is no future for his bands Blur and Gorillaz, despite seeming to suggest that in an interview earlier this month.

During a piece on Albarn in The Guardian published in April it appeared that he said he had little desire to continue with either the reformed Blur or animated pop band Gorillaz after this year. However, that is not strictly true as Albarn told Metro that he does not think so far into the future as to be able to say something is over.

Asked about the reported death of Blur and Gorillaz, Albarn said: "That comes from an article which was an interesting take on a very long conversation.

"I don't know how we'll feel when we play Hyde Park. Some days I feel one way and other days I feel the other. If you don't see something as a career but as an important part of your life, you don't know how you're going to feel about it.

Adding: "We want to put on a great performance but nothing's been said between us about the beginning or the end."

Albarn did, however, confirm that tension between himself and animator Jamie Hewlett are behind a lack of Gorillaz activity right now. "When Jamie and I have worked out our differences, I'm sure we'll make another record."

Damon Albarn's next project will be a solo album under the name "Dr Dee". You can hear the first track from that venture here.

Thanks for the report to Gigwise.com.

There's actually tension between Jamie and Damon? Something must've happened recently, the newest gorillaz single/video was out about two months ago and had both of them working on it together.

Blur, Gorrilaz, The Good the Bad and the Queen, Massive Attack, Dr. Dee... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to get tired of his voice. All the same, I hope there is going to be more Blur... but I recall not so long ago seeing the bassist being asked on Top Gear if there's ever going to be another Blur album, and him saying a definite no. :S
