Dave Grohl Given Record-Breaking Drumsticks

The log-sized drumsticks carved in honor of Dave Grohl have broken a world record as the largest pair ever made.

A pair of 900 pound drumsticks carved in honor of Dave Grohl have broken a Guiness World Record.

The giant sticks were carved from logs, and were unveiled in his hometown of Warren in Ohio at the weekend. In September they will be moved to Dave Grohl Alley, an alleyway dedicated to the Foo Fighters frontman in 2009.

Grohl was born in Warren in 1969, though his family moved to Washington DC when he was a child where he discovered the hardcore punk scene that influenced his musical future.

He thanked his birth town with a local newspaper advertisement, which you can see below. It read:

"To the wonderful city of Warren, from the bottom of my heart I'd like to thank you all so much. For the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world's largest drumsticks! And for all of your support.

"But most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say I am from Warren, Ohio!"

Watch a video of the drumsticks being carved in the player below, though you'll have to tilt your head to one side:
