Dave Grohl: You Shouldn't Have To Do F-cking Glee

When it comes to using his band's songs on Glee, the Foos frontman sides with Kings of Leon and Slash in the licensing battle.

Don't count on hearing the Foo Fighters hit "Times Like These" on Glee anytime soon. Frontman Dave Grohl says he and his bandmates are squarely in the corner of Kings Of Leon and Slash. As in, they want no part of the Ryan Murphy-helmed show.

"It's every band's right, you shouldn't have to do f---ing Glee," Grohl told THR following the premiere of Foo Fighters: Back And Forth, the new Foo Fighters documentary which just made its South By Southwest debut. "And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we're not, like, begging to be on his f---ing show f--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee."

You might be wondering, has Grohl ever actually watched the show? As it turns out, yes, he gave Glee a whirl. "I watched 10 minutes. It's not my thing," Grohl grizzled. But he doesn't have as much of a problem with the series as he does with its creator.

Recounting anti-Glee comments made by Slash earlier this year and subsequent retorts by Murphy, reported by THR, Grohl explained to drummer Taylor Hawkins: "The Glee guy, what a f---ing jerk. Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns n' Roses and Slash is like, I hate f---ing musicals. It's worse than Grease.' Then [Murphy's] like, Well, of course he'd say that, he's a washed up ol' rock star, that's what they f---ing do.' And then Kings of Leon say, No, we don't want to be on your show.' And then he's like, Snotty little assholes' And it's just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included."

Said Hawkins: "Yeah, f--- that sh-t."

I have even more respect for Dave Grohl now. Dude stop being so awesome! It hurts!

I don't think I've ever seen an article summed up as well as what Taylor Hawkins just did I completely agree with Grohl though, the creator hasn't done himself any favours by slamming artists who turn him down, no doubt Grohl and the Foos are the next of many

Surely I'm not the only person thinking what a lucky bastard you are not to know about Glee.

Yeah the censoring is needless. If you're on this site you are an adult or you are a budding young guitar god. So you either know how to use the word '****' or you need to learn.

F**K yeah! F**K Glee! I never liked it but I despised it more when the butt-hole made a bitch-fit about bands turning the show down. In the picture of Dave w/ the sunglasses, he reminds me a lot of Funnyman from The Boondock Saints. lol

Not only the Foo Fighters' music is great, but the musicians behind it are awesome people. F***in' A!

The only good part about Glee is the commercials. That show has to be the worst hour of television i have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I can see where Murphy is going to burn so many bridges that soon he won't be able to get any of the music he wants on the show, leaving him to write entirely original pieces. At that point, the show will crash and burn

Atta boy Dave! sticking up for what is right. Glee is by far the worst show that has ever cursed television sets. A musical tv show that rips off others songs and shows nothing original of their own except one episode of sub-par music. Foo Fighters are amazing! Dave Grohl will hopefully never sell is soul to that show.

I love musicals and I can not stand Glee. It and it's creator are so far up their own ass they'll never see the sun again.

I can't wait to see how Ryan Murphy responds, he can't really insult Dave for being washed up or anything, even if he tries to insult him for the Foos/Nirvana, a shitstorm will occur.

That made me think of like a rapper who spouts something off and then has his #2 guy standing behind him repeating the last word of every sentence for effect. Hilarious.

I have more respect for Dave Grhol in my whole body, than I have for Gerard Way in my left testicle. (in-case you don't know, MCR allowed glee to murder their song (not that they didn't do that themselves already..))

totally agree. he atleast gave the show a chance and watched some of it, instead of just bashing it (but im not accusing anyone of that). dave's views are pretty much universally shared by me and ug lol.

yeah man good on Grohl, its his and the Foo's orignal music and they have the right to not have their music ruined by glees terrible covers, anyone heard their cover of "Don't Stop Believing"? makes me hate this show even more. but now that this producer is being such a prick about artists not wanting to have their music featured is just making me hate him and his show so much more.
