Disturbed's David Draiman Hints At Possible Breakup

Is the end nigh for Disturbed? Singer David Draiman has said that the band will go on hiatus after their current stint on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest, with no immediate plans to regroup on the horizon and no touring plans set for 2012. The band also admitted it will take a break from live performing to deal with personal issues. Whether said issues are intraband issues or issues that band members must deal with outside of the group remains to be seen. Draiman told Idaho radio station KQXR that "We don't know what we're doing... We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for a while, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell." Well, it's not uncommon for a band with an insanely packed touring schedule like Disturbed to take more than a few deserved minutes off. So perhaps the band is just tired and cranky from non-stop life on the road, coupled with other personal matters? Yes, Draiman is being cryptic and does little to address things with some clarity, so we can only hope the band works out its issues and enjoys some rest and time off. You haven't either, have you? I have, and I agree with Lt. Kickass; not because of his face, because of their lack of entertainment. I saw them about 4 or 5 years ago in Indiana, and they are the least entertaining professional band I have ever seen; not to mention the fact that practically all of their songs sound just alike, producing a concert that was virtually one song that went on for an hour, with Land of Confusion thrown in there somewhere, and ending with The Sickness (and no encore). Also, aside from the speculation by the 'journalist', this is exactly the same thing that was posted 8 days ago.

System of a Down is a mediocre band, if even that.

This is incredibly sad news to me, because they are my favorite band of all time. Most likely always will be. They were my first concert back in '06, and I just saw them tonight at Mayhem. Fucking incredible show.

They had their run, and It was long and prosperous. I won't freak out because they have alot of good songs. And the most memorable Disturbed to me, is their old stuff.

hmmmm the only good album to me was the sickness. iv spun that album a lot of times. the other albums maybe played once or twice. hopefully they break up for a while and come up back with something compleatly different from the crap they have been producing lately.

Why does everyone seem to be comparing all their albums to Ten Thousand Fists!? :S The last two albums sounded nothing like 10kfists! On topic, I was kinda hoping they'd come back with a better more thought out album than Asylum, but oh well, I hope they sort what they need to sort out in due course :/ They've still released great music though, lets not forget that.

Wow, this comment section is filled with genre-nazis and people with no respect for other people's taste in music. I like Disturbed, even though Asylum was a bit disappointing, I still think they're great.

+1 for others not liking other peoples music

Although I like some of their music, they do sound tired. The albums are repetitive and their live show (saw them at uproar) did leave some to be desired. I find each album has 2 or 3 tracks that are good. About 3 okay ones, and the rest are just rehashes. But that's just my opinion.

I'm so upset, I'm going to have to call the WAH-AH-AH-AHMBULANCE. No, but srsly, I don't care.

Since then, they've definitely become a full fledged metal band. Just because you don't like something, that doesn't mean it can't fit into the same genre of things you do like. I like metal, but I don't really like Iron Maiden. That doesn't mean Iron Maiden is suddenly not a metal band.
You take his quote out of context dude. While he's saying they're "nu metal" instead of "metal" (which honestly, they are nu-metal, brah) I'm pretty sure it was only to complete his absolutely hilarious joke and to shit on nu-metal fans/players more than to shit on Disturbed. Don't take things so seriously on the interwebz.

I wouldn't call disturbed a "full fledged" metal band.... more like a cross between metal and rock

I've voluntarily seen this band once and about 2 to 3 other times caught them in festivals, in the same year. The first time was okay but Im glad they're taking a break, maybe they'll get bands which have songs that don't all sound the same.

WHHAT? They are one of my top 2 Favorite bands. This will suck forever if they breakup.

So...you point out that flaming isn't allowed, yet you end your comment with a flaming statement?

Am I the only one that noticed at the beginning of the video they were talking about disturbed being on uproar and how the album came out a month ago (august)?

thank sweet baby jesus. they should have gone on break after 10000 fists, left on a high note.

Disturbed is at least better than System. Tankin's voice is just annoying

    Indeed. +1 to you, sir.

I hope they don't break up, cuz I had to leave Mayhem Fest before I got to see them. A rest might not be so bad though, because they're last album was ****. Maybe if they take a break, they'll put some more stuff like Ten Thousand Fists and Indestructible out.
    AxemanRob
They could always get a screaming chimpanzee as a replacement singer if it comes to it.
    lionslicer9999
This isn't really surprising, they kind of hit the peak as a band years ago, they haven't released anything better than their previous albums, it's all been of equal quality since 10 thousand fists.

I think his point is everything they have done since 10,000 fists sounds the exact same.....Which it does, you can not tell me otherwise without looking like an idiot. I just want to clarify that I am not saying that you are an idiot for liking the music because that is all personal taste. I am saying you are an idiot if you think they have done anything different with their sound since 10,000 Fists, because they haven't. Personally I loved The Sickness-10,000 Fists but their sound got so repetitive, boring, and overplayed that it even killed the music I liked from them. But again, that is just me. I think they need this.....Who knows, maybe they will reunite one day and come out with something fresh to redeem themselves with.
