Is the end nigh for Disturbed?

Singer David Draiman has said that the band will go on hiatus after their current stint on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest, with no immediate plans to regroup on the horizon and no touring plans set for 2012. The band also admitted it will take a break from live performing to deal with personal issues. Whether said issues are intraband issues or issues that band members must deal with outside of the group remains to be seen.

Draiman told Idaho radio station KQXR that "We don't know what we're doing... We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for a while, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell."

Well, it's not uncommon for a band with an insanely packed touring schedule like Disturbed to take more than a few deserved minutes off. So perhaps the band is just tired and cranky from non-stop life on the road, coupled with other personal matters?

Yes, Draiman is being cryptic and does little to address things with some clarity, so we can only hope the band works out its issues and enjoys some rest and time off.

ok, ok. i can understand that flaming isnt allowed. but, if it's ok to say a lady gaga article on UG is unnecessary, then I say that justifies me in making the same view clear here, since Disturbed offer about as much to metal as Lady Gaga does.

I've voluntarily seen this band once and about 2 to 3 other times caught them in festivals, in the same year. The first time was okay but Im glad they're taking a break, maybe they'll get bands which have songs that don't all sound the same.

I wouldn't call disturbed a "full fledged" metal band.... more like a cross between metal and rock

Am I the only one that noticed at the beginning of the video they were talking about disturbed being on uproar and how the album came out a month ago (august)?

Seeing as they're a band that constantly tours it makes sense that they'd want time to relax.

Hmm, now that I think about it, I suppose you're probably right. I retract my statement.

I like metal, but I don't really like Iron Maiden. That doesn't mean Iron Maiden is suddenly not a metal band.
They have 2 songs at most that are nu-metal, the rest is mostly metal instrumentation with a hard rock drive. They are not nu-metal but they are not metal either. They are somewhere in between hard rock and metal much like Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch.

The crappy noise in their songs made the family dog go crazy and gnaw your brothers leg off and made him bleed to death. They didn't rape your mother either, they payed a geriatric old man in fellatio to do it for them. Don't try to give them credit, because they're definitely not metal. Nu Metal is like the pop of metal.
A bit late to the picnic aren't you? Hating Nu Metal is so 2001.

That's a shame. Believe was/is their best written album to date.

A hiatus isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just look at bands like Rush. Produced great albums after they had had a hiatus.

I'm not really into Disturbed much anymore but I really hope that they don't break up completely Although I think that a few years of hiatus will do more good than harm Asylum was a clear sign that Disturbed was stagnating musically and a break might give them time to develop and change their sound a little bit

Well if that's the case, then yes, I'll feel bad because I've never been able to attend a Disturbed concert. I really liked the sound that they did with Ten Thousand Fists and onward. Not saying I didn't like the original stuff, but Ten Thousand Fists just hit me like a ton of bricks in a good way. I think they'll take a break for a few years and then come back. Same thing with Slipknot. This is why musicians should do their own albums after the band they hail from finishes touring like Corey Taylor and James Root did with Stone Sour. It helps to be able to take a break from a band that does one thing when you perhaps want to do another. Certain bands are just made to stay together like Metallica, but others sometimes need that break.

This is dreimans fault for sure. Terrible live singer and he seemed like a douchebag. Hes got a bad case of LSS for sure. Hope they ditch him and start up again.

Wow, this comment section is filled with genre-nazis and people with no respect for other people's taste in music. I like Disturbed, even though Asylum was a bit disappointing, I still think they're great.

+1 for others not liking other peoples music

Although I like some of their music, they do sound tired. The albums are repetitive and their live show (saw them at uproar) did leave some to be desired. I find each album has 2 or 3 tracks that are good. About 3 okay ones, and the rest are just rehashes. But that's just my opinion.

This is hilarious But seriously disturbed needed to do this along time ago, maybe they can find a better frontman than Draiman, hes the downfall of the band in my opinion, his vocals are annoying and repetitive. There first albulm was really the only one I could listen to the whole thing without wanting to put a bullet in my head because Draimans voice is just that bad.
