According to Blabbermouth.net, Down guitarist and Crowbar forntman Kirk Windstein has posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"I am watching the [the 47th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards on CBS-TV]...These f--kers can all sing, and hot damn, dem boys can play!!! The pop sh-t is a joke... Honestly, I lie awake at night trying to figure out how a person who doesn't write their tunes, and then proceeds to lip-synch everything, can be so popular. But it just goes to show how horrible the worldwide music scene truly is... Nicki Minaj couldn't hand me a pick... She's undeserving... F--k these talentless millionaires!!!"

Down recently completed recording the first in a series of four EPs, to be released over the next few years (with a year between EPs), each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound. The first six-song EP, which heralds the sound of Down going back to its roots, with influences from Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus and Witchfinder General, is described by singer Philip Anselmo as "a very pure doom metal record".

Crowbar and Prong will join forces for a U.S. tour later this month.

Crowbar's latest album, "Sever The Wicked Hand", sold around 3,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 4 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Reading this with a Jessie J advert to the left, irony at its best

kirk has this totally right..country music like any genre (including rock) of course has some untalented an undeserving artists... but when you see guys like brad paisley and zac brown who are just flat out awesome guitarists you gotta give them props

I have to agree, while a lot of country artist do not write there own material they tend to do a lot of the playing on the recordings. I listen to country some of the times, but I never listen to pop

When Whitney Houston died, they rolled out a 30-60 minute block of her videos in their entirety. I was really surprised they didn't insert interviews with their approved artists to state how they SO were huge lifelong fans blah blah blah.

Well, not all pop singers don't write their own tunes or lipsynch, but all in all I gotta say he's right!

But she can actually play, though. I'm not a fan of her, but I respect her more than any other shitty pop star who can't play or sing.

Crowbar on the top new artists chart, what a ****ing joke. theyve been around longer than justin bieber has been alive. cracking the top 100 in album sales is a horrible way to judge whether a band is "up and coming"

Shit yeah-III is probably the last true country outlaw left. Always liked III. I'm not a big country fan, but I saw III open up for Melvins 10/11 yrs ago. F'n badass.

"Nicki Minaj couldn't hand me a pick" It's funny cause she probably doesn't even know what a pick is

The only videos made today are from shitty popstars, that goes through the shithole-channel called MTV who plays it all day long. MTV should've been dead a long time ago, its killing music real escence. Go KIRK!

Yeah Kirk is kinda right but the ironic thing is that country singers don't write their own tunes either.

Agreed. There are some decent Country musicians. But it's definitely not my style. They only support stereotypes that they sing about drinking beer and driving pickup trucks. There's not much substance. Old school country and southern rock is where it's at!

How does he not realize that those so called "country" stars are really just pop stars with southern accents? I cringe when I hear someone like Toby Keith or Brad Paisley or whoever say their biggest influence was Johnny Cash because I'm quite sure Johnny Cash would give them the finger. "BBQ stain on my white T-shirt" is not country, try writing songs about watching your loved ones turn into drug addicts. Down sucks anyway they're just another shitty stoner rock band.

As far as I can tell, modern country is not too different than pop music. The songwriting is boring and generic, but then again I dont listen to country and theres crappy bands in every genre. Kirk is the man.

MTV + People's shitty musical taste, that's how... There is some good stuff going on in pop music today, though. But faaar, faaaar away from the autotune + repetitive boring keyboards + lack of talent crap.

Agree with Kirk. Saw an old video of Brad Paisley playing guitar not too long ago. Holy crap that guy can play!
