NME is reporting that Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson has been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas.

His manager, Robert Hoy used the Wilko Johnson Facebook page to make the announcement today.

"I am very sad to announce that Wilko has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas. He has chosen not to receive any chemotherapy. He is currently in good spirits, is not yet suffering any physical effects and can expect to enjoy at least another few months of reasonable health and activity."

He also stated that Johnson intends to undertake a farewell tour of the U.K.

"He has just set off on a trip to Japan; on his return we plan to complete a new CD, make a short tour of France, then give a series of farewell gigs in the UK. There is also a live DVD in the pipeline, filmed on the last UK tour."

The guitarist, who is 65, played with Dr. Feelgood between 1971 and 1977 and played with the Blockheads in 1980 before releasing a succession of albums with the Wilko Johnson Band.

Also known as Ser Ilyn Pane in the TV series Game of Thrones. He is the kings executioner for those who are wondering
Fuckin' cancer, man. This stupid disease takes too many people away every year... sad news.
I hope he's enjoyed his life. All about quality, not quantity. Here's hoping he makes his last days count
I don't envy his position. At all. But it sounds like he's gonna go out doing what he loves. And I respect the shit out of that. You keep kicking ass, Wilko.
Yeah, make a joke out of someone who is dying. Nice one dude. Such sad news. Lets just hope his last few months aren't too horrific for him. Takes a strong person to bypass treatment when faced with something like this.
That sucks, I'd hate to be in his position and truly hope that I never am.
What a brave decision. To accept something so final but continue to do what he loves until he's forced to stop. The flame of passion in music never stops burning within us.
An absolute legend and one of the finest guitarist to come from these shores and a real character to boot - the world doesn't have enough people like Wilko.
Such a shame, there's been little coverage of this also. I feel like I owe him something for his amazing inspiring style.
