Good news for Dream Theater fans: the group has unveiled more US dates for the first leg of their upcoming tour.

7 new shows have been added, including stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, Pompano Beach, Orlando and Dallas.

The trek is in support of their new album, "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", due September 13.

Most of the shows on the first leg are with label mates Trivium; the tour gets underway in San Francisco on September 24.

"When it comes to touring with Dream Theater, we've toured with everyone from Coldplay to Alicia Keys to Zao to Dimmu Borgir, so it's like we go all around the board", Trivium vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy tells Bloody Disgusting. "Also, every day, every show we've played since I was about 16 years old, I've used the John Petrucci Rock Disciplines warm-ups on VHS and I've got it memorized. I warm up for every single show to his exercises."

It's in the Southwest of the USA. It shares borders with California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and has an international border with Mexico.
A little bummed they didn't add a WA date closer to ID, but Seattle ain't that far of a drive
Thank you ultimate-guitar for making my day. Now I can maybe see Dream Theater 2 years in a row thanks to the new US dates. Unfortunately I still can't ticket info anywhere...
Hell yeah! I'm not hating on their new drummer, but I kind of wish Portnoy was still in the band. It's just that I've never seen Dream Theater before and so to me it's a little disappointing.
