Dream Theater: 'We're Already Bouncing Some Ideas for the New Album'

Jordan Rudess talks recording in new interview.

Dream Theater keyboard player Jordan Rudess has been talking with Rocksverige about the band's plans for recording a new album.

As Rudess notes, once their current tour is over, Dream Theater will be getting back to the recording studio:

"We're gonna do what we usually do; go back into the studio and make another album. We're already bouncing some ideas back and forth about what that could be. I mean, it's nothing announce-able or even formed enough to speak of."

He also hinted that, while the band's new record is still in the formative stages, they are already thinking about how they might incorporate it into the next tour:

"We start to think a lot about the preparation. We learned a lot with this tour. We all feel like this is the grandest Dream Theater tour yet and the feedback has been that it's the best Dream Theater tour that people have seen. It's a show that has a lot of elements to it, and it was intense putting it together.

"Because of that, we learned so much and wanted to make the next tour even better. We talked about how to do that, and how to take the tour, plus the album, and bring them together."

I was in Québec city last saturday night. I knew it was going to be a 3-hour show, and I had high expectations, mostly for LaBrie. I have to say that he blew me away on the first song... his vocals were impeccable, and he even reached every high note on all the songs from Awake and in Illumination Theory. This is by far the best Dream Theater show I've been to.
I know Jordan. I talk to him almost every day. He is seriously one of the nicest guys I have ever worked with.
The way this is worded made me think at first that they're literally bouncing demos they've already recorded lol
I'm seeing them in Budapest in July. I can't wait, it'll be my first DT show, and I fully expect to be blown away.
If they could just work it really firm this time, it would be much better than the last one. I find it very weak.
