Former Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell drummer Vinnie Appice recently discussed some of the reasons for not being invited to work on the latest Sabbath effort "13," noting he'd gladly rejoin the iconic act.

Chatting with Radio Fireball, the drummer was directly asked about the given matter. "I think it has something to probably do with we did four years with Heaven & Hell and it was Tony [Iommi], Geezer [Butler] and I," he replied (via Blabbermouth).

"If I was in [Sabbath today], it'd be Tony, Geezer, I and Ozzy. Maybe Ozzy felt weird that way, or maybe the band felt weird, like it was Heaven & Hell with Ozzy and they wanted to keep it different. And there was different producers involved. Rick Rubin was involved. He knows the drummer that was in the band, Brad [Wilk]. He doesn't know me. It could be a number of things.

"They know I would love to do it and I'm here for them if they need me," Vinnie concluded.

Appice performed on a number of classic Sabbath and Dio albums throughout the years, including "Mob Rules," "Holy Diver," "Dehumanizer" and more.

It could be you're a pretty heavy-handed plodding drummer, perhaps....?

That'd be awesome. In my opinion, Vinnie is every bit as good as Bill, if not better. Besides, it'd be cool to have someone who was already a member (no disrespect for Brad Wilk, he did well too).

Vinnie's an incredible drummer so it'd be great, but sort of weird at the same time, cause Dio's gone and there's Ozzy. Resurrection of Heaven & Hell with a different vocalist to honor Dio would be even better.

In this guys opinion, Vinnie never played with Sabbath, because Sabbath wasn't Sabbath without Ozzy.

Yeah, it definitely destroys a band when the only member who never wrote a damn thing leaves. Especially when he later gets replaced by someone several times better.
