Elton John Is Not Retiring

"Elton was only joking," says the musician's spokeperson.

Is Elton John ready to call it quits? After saying he was done on July 15, he has apparently backtracked on his words only one day later, Ultimate Classic Rock notes.

ABC News Radio says that, while performing at the Festival de Carcassone in France, John told the crowd, "No more shows, no more music, no more songs." He said that he was going to spend the rest of his time with his family, which is comprised of his partner David Furnish and their two children, Zachary and Elijah. However, a brief call to his representative set the record straight.

"He's not retiring," she said. The UK tabloid the Mirror also quoted his spokesman as saying, "Elton was only joking."

Back in 1977, John announced that he was retiring, but it didn't take hold, with the release of "A Single Man" coming a year later. However, as recently as 2012, he said that he would consider quitting when Zachary, then his only son, began school.

John's current European tour runs through the end of July. He will begin a month-long trek across North America in September, and will return to Europe in November. Elton John will close out the year with a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Dec. 31.

Funny thing is, he could have retired in 1977 if he actually wanted to. He would still be sitting on top of a pile of money nowadays. Gotta love the show business. Anyway, he's a legend. It's good to have him around.
You know you're a rock star when you have a spokesperson to speak for you. But I'm glad he's not quitting the game just yet!
Hell yeah he is a legend. But the guy needs money to sustain himself..after all. He is a LEGEND. and legends need money :3
I watched him perform this year and he still puts on a hell of a show. It will be sad to see him quit but he has to do what he has to do
