Eminem has revealed he came close to writing a rap in which he attacked Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Drake, the Independent reports (via NME).

The Detroit rapper opened up about how other musicians "killing it" between his "Encore" and "Relapse" albums made him feel insecure about himself and his own music while appearing on Los Angeles radio station Power 106.

"For that time period when I was away, I was watching what was going on in the game. Anything that was hot at that moment, anybody that was really killing sh-t," he said. "I felt so bad about myself and the music that I was creating, I felt I was starting to turn into a hater."

He continued: "Singling Kanye and Wayne out at that time period, they were the ones killing it the most to me and it hurt. I'd pop a CD in and be like 'F--k man, I'm not doing this no more'."

After saying he considered writing a rap "dissing everybody," he explained he never put pen to paper because it would be "career suicide."

"There were times that it didn't feel good to be me," Eminem said. "I think deep down I just wasn't happy with myself, man, you know? There were some really dark moments in there, when I think about my thought processes when I was a high a lot. It wasn't good and it certainly wasn't me. I'm not even that sort of person."

I wish he would have recorded it.

There really is some great material to work with: Kanye is a recovering gay fish married to a hobbit, Lil Wayne can't play guitar for sh!t and Drake is just a (fish) d!ck.

yeah i thoroughly believe if anyone could come out and drop a rap record like that, everyone would respect it and everyone else's career would be over

He's matured as a person and is better for it, which is good for him but disappointing for us as we miss out on what probably would have been a hilarious attack on some of the biggest posers in the rap industry.

carreer suicide? please.... you'd have attacked the 2 worst "rappers" in the industry. I don't see the big deal. Just record that shit and make us laugh.

Kanye West? I actually think he is one of the more interesting artists in rap.

He's certainly leagues above Lil' Wayne and Drake. Yes, he's a self-centered bellend, but that doesn't mean that he is not good at what he does. And I don't even like his music, ffs.

I think West is a good producer but I think his rapping and lyrics are sub par and his attitude is just horrible

okay yeah, pick your least favorite line and discount his entire career over it. unrelated to your comment, if eminem dissed lil wayne between 2004-08 he would've honestly had his ass handed to him, and i say that as a 'stan'

lol bro i saw the yeezus tour a few months ago and loved it, i even listen the album here and there, but he sucks at rapping

The only thing that makes him interesting is the fact that he doesn't have it all upstairs if you know what I mean

Kanye West is a pretty shitty rapper but a genius producer. Lil Wayne hasn't always been as bad as he is now and at his peak was "killing it", as Eminem rightly said. Drake is on top form at the moment and his recent album was well received by most hip hop fans. But hey, we're on UG so "LIL WAYNE SUCKS, HE'S SO BAD AT GUITAR, AND DRAKE MAKES SUCH GAY MUSIC! KANYE WEST IS SO ARROGANT. GOD, LULU WAS AN AWFUL ALBUM, AMIRITE?"

Yeah Lil Wayne sucks. His flow is boring and his lyrics are shit - imo he gets murdered by half the rappers that guest on his own material (Tech N9ne's verse is probably the best part of Carter IV)

Using a verse from an album that late in his career doesn't really refute anything I said.

I commend you for putting yourself out there for a total downvote carnage. I agree with you though. That said, Doom is where it's all at.

This is pretty old news, he says this on the track Talkin' 2 Myself on Recovery.

I always thought of "Rap God" as him slagging off the modern hip-hop industry. Good evidence we've got here.

Ugh, the comments are gonna be filled with a whole bunch of comments from people who know next to nothing about rap and think that LIl Wayne is the standard.

lil wayne is dogshit and probably the worst thing to happen to rap. rap wasn't always shitty, 80's and early 90's rap was clever, funky, and actual music. now (thanks to idiots like lil wayne) it's such a joke.

Since when has Em given a damn about what people think? He should've shredded Kanye and Drake to pieces.

    >Eminem has revealed he came close to writing a rap... Just like I came close to writing the Great American Novel.

Eminem is how old now? He speaks like a 12 year old brat. Honestly I can't take him seriously using words like "hater" and "killing shit" at that age...

Well he actually did write it. Listen to No Love (feat Wayne)and Forever (feat Drake, Kanye and Wayne). Its a deliberate tactics to feature other rappers on his tracks and murder them with his superior verses. In facthe had Kanye and Drake go rewrite their verses in Forever after they hear Em's verse.
