Foo Fighters feel "bad" for winning the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Grammy. The rockers picked up the trophy for their track "White Limo" - one of the five awards they took home on Sunday (12.02.12) - and whilst singer Dave Grohl had admitted it was the one he most wanted, he feel sorry for metal act Dream Theater, as their track was heavier. Shortly after being announced as winners, Dave told MTV: "We got it! I feel so bad for the Dream Theater guy, because they actually had a metal performance. We didn't, but it's awesome." Referring to "White Limo", he added: "That's kind of the coolest song we've ever written." Dave added he was also happy most of the awards they were nominated for had been announced before they performed at the show. He said: "It's kind of nice. Now we can just sit there and play and not worry about Grammys anymore. I think if we win them all, we look like d***s." Drummer Taylor Hawkins was really excited about performing their version of "Rope" - seguing into the remix version by Deadmau5 halfway through - a one-off for the event. He said: "It's so un-us, though, when you hear it that it's awesome." Thanks for the report to ConactMusic.com.

Agree with Dave, DT should have won, proof that the Grammy's are retarded and rather pointless

Should've gone to either Dream Theater or Mastodon. Especially Dream Theater, they deserve a grammy at this stage

I don't think Dave felt "sorry" for DT. He just recognized, like the great musician and man he is, that Dream Theater wrote a track that fell more under the category of "metal." Although, I will say, Dave Grohl recognizing this is pretty good-guy metal of him.

If we're going by newest records here, I would go with Mastodon.

I wanted either Megadeth or Mastodon to win, but commercialism wins again, no disrespect to the foos as I think they're great to

I was kinda thinking the same thing when they won that award. I was hoping Mastodon was gonna get it

Why not just have a Metal category so big rock bands don't go up against real metal bands. Then we will never have a repeat of the Jethro Tull-Metallica shenanigans.

To combine the first two, Dave Grohl is the man, and DT should have one. I don't really dig the foo's, but the man should be a role model for everyone in the industry.

Congrats to the Fooeys. If the Grammies were judged upon musicality DT would have won hands down! But that's not what the Grammies are awarded for unfortunately. The wheels of big business keep on turning.... Disappoints me to no end!

Dave Grohl deserves as much respect as he can get (f that makes sense). After the stupid, xtremist church tlked sht about them, he came back with a good response. Funny aswell. And plus, I don't think many bands would say that they felt bad if they won something in the wrong category. They may just go 'yeah, we're the new sht'. I think lady gaga and kesha wud say tht if they won for rock. They really aren't. they give rock a bad name... Live long Foo fighters

What a stand up guy. Most musicians with his fame would let their ego get the best of them but he knows damn well it is not metal and he has the courage to admit it.

Humility is a golden trait nowadays. Thanks Dave for showing it to the whole Rock/Metal community!

Listened to the sample tracks of Resolution and planning to buy it (Original CD) tomorrow night. The album is EPIC and if LOG will not get recognized the way they should be, the grammy's will lose all credibility and integrity for sure.

Don't forget that it was for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance not just metal.

they merged hard rock and heavy metal, stupid in my opinion, gives less room for more bands to be nominated from both categories

Well that should shut up a fair amount of the haters. Go figure, Grohl AGREES with you!

The Grammy's finally give in and recognize metal as a form of music and the lump it in with rock. Not to mention the retards that vote have no idea what they're listening to outside of top 40 radio. If the Grammy's are going to try, they should at least try to get it right for once. SEGREGATE ROCK AND METAL.

Lol its kinda lame he says he feels bad for them I don't think musicians of DT's caliber need Grohls sympathy. I'm more of A Foo's fan though and yeah the grammy's are only acknowledging the Foo's now because they have consistently sold out tours and albums and managed to stay around, it's not like the guys n gals behind it all just decided to pick up their albums. Thats why I prefer musicians to snub these awards they dont mean shit. Especially metal or hard rocks bands there is nothing wrong with that music not becoming main stream, for me real music is challenging and will never be mainstream regardless of genre.

well they won it and its a done deal, at least he's nice enough to admit his song wasn't nearly as heavy compared to the others and is extremely grateful and appreciative of the win, all the more reason why he's just the nicest, coolest, most respected man of rock n roll today

Dont worry, Im sure when they are starting the next album promotion he will be telling journalists that its the heaviest thing they have ever done....

We did have a repeat it's called Megadeth has 10 grammy nominations and no win. Mastodon has 2 now and Curl of the Burl was easily one of the top metal songs of 2011. It shows that the grammies have no guidelines for categories and will instead give awards to what band was most successful this year.
