The Foo Fighters are rumored to be taking an extended hiatus following on-stage comments from Dave Grohl.
The rumors began when Grohl told a crowd of 60,000 in New York's Central Park "this is it".
"Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this", said Grohl (via NME). "This is it, man. Honestly I don't know when we're gonna do it again... and this is the perfect place to do it".
Grohl added: "I don't know when, but we'll see you again".
However, we think fans have nothing to worry about. The band is likely to be entering the studio to record the followup to 2011's wildly successful "Wasting Light".
In late 2011, Grohl said: "If you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our 8th studio album... well...".
If this proved to be true, the band could have been an album over the year. Of course, the band could simply be burnt out from extended tours and need a break in the run up to Christmas.
Grohl's also had his hands busy producing the forthcoming Sound City documentary which tells the story of the legendary recording studio which was home to dozens of classic records, including Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
