Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier sang praises of Scandinavian metal fans and their deep understanding of the genre, saying (transcribed by UG):

"People there understand metal like nowhere else in the world. It's almost like they went to school to study metal.

"People's attention, presence, the way they look at us onstage - it looks like they're almost analyzing what we're doing in the codes.

"There's a deep understanding and it's not surprising that some of the best bands in the world are from Scandinavia. It's really special."

Yep.  Although Finland isn't part of Scandinavia, when I saw Amon Amarth and Behemoth in Helsinki, it was an experience a million years ahead of anything I've seen in the states.  Blew my damn mind.

True, but South American metalheads are the most fun to be around.

Watch any Maiden, Metallica or any other metal concert in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, etc. Those are real passionate fans. My favorite scene in Flight 666 is when Nicko gives this dude in the front his drumsticks, and the guy is crying harder than someone who just won the billion peso lottery.

I'm just really happy when metal bands come to Denmark to play, so I'll make sure to cherish the experience. You never know when that one band, you've wanted to see for years will come back.
