Off to see Blur at Hyde Park later this year? Well Graham Coxon has teased the possibility of Blur playing new material at the show.
The band confirmed earlier this year (February 21) that they will play a special one-off show in Hyde Park this summer to mark the end of the London Olympics.
Blur, who performed in Hyde Park back in 2009 for their reunion gigs, will also be joined by The Specials and New Order for the event on Sunday, August 12.
Asked about the possibility of new material being performed at the show, Coxon told BBC Breakfast: "Mmm, perhaps there might be some surprises. I'm not sure what any of the other people in the group have said.
"We all say different things and then we all get told 'don't say that' but they said that and getting into trouble."
He added: "But yes, there's going to be some surprises. We haven't made much preparations as yet but we've got to start rehearsing soon."
During an appearance on Top Gear, Alex James revealed the band were planning to surprise fans with new material, saying: "We've got a new song to unveil, I just listened to it this morning," said James, adding the new track sounded: "like a hymn, a real tear-jerker".
Frontman Damon Albarn suggested however, that any new material the band perform this year may be last Blur tracks ever, saying recently: "I don't really do anything with Blur any more - there's this concert this year but its not a full time thing at all. Maybe this tune's a last little coda to the whole story."
We wonder if drummer Dave Rowntree has anything to add?
