Green Day have announced plans to return to the road in 2013 and revealed dates for the upcoming tour in support of their new album trilogy, "¡Uno!", "¡Dos!", and "¡Tré!"

A 2-week series of North American shows start March 28 in Chicago; previously announced dates planned for January and February have been cancelled.

The band ceased all live and promotional appearances in support of the new albums following an onstage meltdown by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in Las Vegas in September (watch the video below), which resulted in the singer seeking treatment for substance abuse.

"We want to thank everyone for hanging in with us for the last few months," said the members of Green Day. "We are very excited to hit the road and see all of you again, though we regret having to cancel more shows."

"Dear friends," writes Billie Joe, "I just want to thank you all for the love and support you've shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on. We can't wait to get on the road and live out [loud]! Our passion has only grown stronger."

Tickets for shows that had been postponed will be honored at these new dates. Should you have any questions regarding your tickets please contact your point of purchase. For those who purchased tickets for dates that are now canceled, refunds will be given at original point of purchase.

Additional west coast dates will be announced in early 2013.

It wasn't really a meltdown, he got pissed off and had a moment of rage it happens to all of us. Most musicians aren't happy with the way music and these sort of shows are these days. Adele flipped off Blur because the Brits organisers cut her vanity speech short so the band could play and then she whined about it for months, why is no one accusing her of having a meltdown ? A meltdown would be more like if he just randomly started crying because he hated his life and then walked off stage. What I do love is how Mike joins in just to try and take a little of the heat off Armstrong, that's a dedicated friend for you. I'm glad he is seeking help for substance abuse but calling an angry rant a meltdown is a little much.
Yeah, and Tr stops the guard (or whoever) by pulling his shirt so he can't stop Mike xD
True bandmates aye. I bet Mike wasn't all that sure about what Billie Joe was on about, just joined in to have his back
If I see the words "onstage meltdown" one more time I am going to have an onstage meltdown myself. Who does UG think I am? Justin Bieber?
I think they shorted him and he just tried to do the most bad ass thing he could think of and stick it to the man.
im glad i wasnt the only one who noticed that he was like yeah **** it i guess were breaking our shit lol
Lol. Dying right now. I didn't see the whole set before either. He is just blasted. Never could stand him as a person but I don't like seeing anyone succumb to that kind of addiction. Hope he gets better.
I'm not even a fan of Green Day and I like Billie Joe Armstrong more for his "breakdown."
But I guess they aren't rescheduling their cancelled 2012 dates??
I'm waiting for news on that, too. I had tickets to the Paramount Theater in Seattle. That show was supposed to take place back in November.
Stop showing the clip of him trying to smash the guitar. We've all seen it multiple times.
The reason it's being called a meltdown is because he was wasted during the concert. If you watch other videos from the night he was drunk off his ass. Sure, his anger could have been justified if it wasnt fueled by alcohol, and it was at an actual punk environment not "I heart radio fest", dafuk did he expect to be treated as
Got tickets for the show in State College, and it got cancelled. I got tickets for Van Halen there last year too. Also cancelled. Grrr...
ugh why do they have to play in brooklyn? why not msg? its the most inconvenient place for people who are not from brooklyn to get to. you basically cant take a car. oh well, maybe next tour
These guys haven't put out shit since 1997...used to be a fan. Armstrong just annoys the hell out of me anyway...****in' eyeliner come on now!
I didn't know Billie Joes eyeliner writes the music... There are lots of great musicians who wear eyeliner.. Ozzy, Keith Richards, Navarro, Till Lindemann, Alice Cooper.. I don't see the big deal. It's like that time Kirk Hammet cut his hair and people went "DURR, HIS HAIR IS GONE!" instead of listening to the music.
