Green Day's Mike Dirnt: 'My Friend's Life Is In Danger'

"We're waiting for Billie to return healthy", says bassist, as singer's stay in rehab continues.

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt says that the band remain united through singer Billie Joe's ongoing stint in rehab, NME reports.

Dirnt says: "Billie doesn't take things lightly and he wouldn't take rehab lightly, either. He's in the middle of some really big things, but we're going to pull through. It's killing everyone. Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything."

Dirnt admitted it was difficult postponing upcoming shows, but stressed that solidarity is the most important thing. "I know that my friend's life is in danger and that's all I care about," he says. "We're brothers-in-arms waiting for Billie to return healthy, but we're not going to force anything. Tre and I will be standing here for Billie."

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was admitted to a medical facility last month after smashing his guitar and going on an expletive-filled rant at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas.

Earlier this week, the chairman of Warner Bros records, Rob Cavallo said he did not know whether Armstrong will leave rehab before Christmas.

In spite of this, the rest of Green Day's "¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tre!" album trilogy is expected to be released as planned, with the second LP, "¡Dos!" coming out on November 12 and "¡Tre!" on January 14, 2013. Green Day are also due to play a huge UK stadium show next summer, headlining London's 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013.

Geez, the same article three days in a row.
Seems like this one is a little more on the serious side then the last two... if it's really as bad as it is, I hope he recovers. We don't want to lose another frontman to drugs/alcohol.
Yeah, the last two were practically copy paste, and this one IS a more serious. I do hope he gets better though.
Yeah, this one is definitely more serious, where the first two were pretty much the same. Hopefully all goes well for him.
Yea this one is a tad more serious. Especially in comparison to the last two which were nearly identical. Hopefully he makes it out ok.
The withdrawal symptoms of Alcohol are known to be deadly, and everything else makes you sick. Unless it's weed, it's dangerous. I hope he pulls through this. :/
Anybody know what exactly it is he's in for? Heroin, booze or what? Here's hoping he pulls through man!
I think it's cool that after so long in the band together, they're still good friends that care about each other. You see so many bands out there who absolutely hate each other but stay together for the cash. This is pretty refreshing.
Same as I said yesterday, getting bored of hearing about him now. Let the poor man deal with his issues in privacy.
I assume he's in rehab for booze...he really doesn't seem like the sort to be a heroin junkie or coke head.
I can think of other well known musicians, that haven't appeared to have serious addictions, but have either wound up in rehab or worse. I seriously hope Billie Joe can get past this
    10 bucks its all fake
10 bucks its not fake because it has severely affected the promotion of the rest of the their album trilogy.
However it is getting an unbelievable amount of attention. Thing that never had before.
That's true, but most people are talking about his rehab, not the albums. This thing is so big its damaging the band, at this point would it be better for them to say it was a publicity stunt and then get on with it.
i believe billie joe said what he said on his"breakdown" being totally fine and they are trying so hard to make everyone believe he was just drunk.and by overselling it they put green day back on the win win
Where did you read this? I've been following the story on a daily basis (I'm a pretty big Green Day fan) and Billie Joe has not released any statement since the iHeart rant. Fans were saying that the rehab stint may have been damage control by Warner Music, but it's come out since then that it's a lot more serious than anybody initially thought.
Pretty much the same article posted the last couple of days. I get it, his life is in danger and this is very serious.
damn UG... i mentioned this last time and i'll mention it again... Jason White is an official member of green day so get an image with him in... damn...
At this point, I am guessing that he is an official member. All the signs point to him being an official member. * Billie saying that he was in the studio contributing in the recording process, something that he's never done before: * He is pictured in the official band photos in the album booklet: * He is on the cover of iQuatro! (the DVD) scheduled to be released:
when was he officially inducted? all i see is a couple of wiki articles which i dont find credible LOl
Why is the picture for this article, in Music News, a picture of that 10-year old girl doing a cover of War Pigs?
"He was sober for a year before drinking heavily that night." Then he says his life is in danger? My guess this has a lot more to do with than booze.
That first quote was from Tre Cool's ex-wife. Hardly the most credible source.
