Dave Grohl has denied there are plans for a Nirvana reunion tour, calling the rumors "nonsense". Grohl had reformed the living Nirvana lineup of Krist Novoselic and touring guitarist Pat Smear with Beatles legend Paul McCartney for the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy relief concert and then Saturday Noght Live, prompting rumours of a full scale tour. However, they have recorded a studio version of their original song "Cut Me Some Slack", which will feature on the soundtrack to Dave Grohl's new Sound City film. You can hear it in the player below. Details for the full "Sound City - Real To Reel" soundtrack were revealed this week. It features performances from a range of leading rockstars collaborating on songs, including Trent Reznor, Corey Tayor, Josh Homme and many more. Hear the studio version of "Cut Me Some Slack" here:

And something tells me the Sound City project was designed to screw over people who like a neat and tidy music library.

Guys, who cares what they call it? It's the closest thing to a Nirvana reunion we'll ever get, and all the living members of Nirvana were a part of it. Just like the Beatles "reunited" for the anthology. No one is putting down Kurt by calling this a "Nirvana reunion". The song is good and that's all that matters.

all the living members were in a foo's album too. doesn't make the foo fighters a nirvana reunion does it?

Actually Dave Grohl stated that the recording of the song 'I Should Have Known' on the album 'Wasting Light', was going to be the closest thing to a Nirvana reunion that the world will ever have.

Grohl must be pretty sick of Chris Shiflett. He's the one Foo Fighter who doesn't appear on this record

I just don't understand all the hate and negativity. It's just some dudes making music (awesome at that) and being happy, yet everyone in the whole god damn ****ing world got to act as if there is a stick driven up their asses and freak the **** out because these guys wanted to play some music together for SNL and the 12/12/12 Benefit concert. I am not the biggest fan of the Beatles and Nirvana, they're great and all, but come on, seriously? This song is great, they played well. The ****, world?

OK so this was mildly cool but do we really need to talk about it everyday now?

Every since that performance has caused all this bullshit to arise over 'Nirvana' reuniting, I wish they'd never gotten together with McCartney in the first place. No Kurt, no true Nirvana reunion

Well obviously, Kurt is dead.... I don't tihnk people lik ePaul or dave care what you think either

Wow, this just sounds like boring ass hard rock. Paul McCartney pioneered it, and now here he is, making this bland music.

lol i love that the only reason its a "nirvana reunion" is because krist came out of hiding and did a gig with dave and pat. If he wasnt there this whole nirvana reunion junk wouldnt be going on

Dave, Krist and Paul McCartney aren't Nirvana, but if they came to Toronto, I'd still buy tickets in a second!

To be honest, I liked the live track better. I'm not sure if it sounded better... But watching them all have a ****ing blast was really awesome

It seems like just a mix of the usual line-up of people that surround this bunch, with a few extras.
