Guns N' Roses Announce Vegas Residency

The idea of a Las Vegas residency probably connotes images to most of the likes of Tom Jones and Elton John, rather than the hard rock set. Yet, according to Hollywood Reporter, Guns N' Roses are set to play a 12 night stint at the The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas between October 31st and November 24th. The series of shows is titled "Appetite For Democracy," an obvious riff on the titles of the band's debut and most recent albums 1987's Appetite For Destruction and 2008's Chinese Democracy. Bobby Reynolds, Vice President of booking at AEG live, Las Vegas has issued the following statement regarding the concerts: "This past New Year's Eve, Guns N' Roses tore the roof off The Joint with two sold-out shows. They were incredible; we watched them perform their timeless hits and soon-to-be legendary songs off 'Chinese Democracy'. Immediately following, AEG Live and Hard Rock began turning our fantasy of having them as a resident artist into a reality. To hear one of the biggest bands in the world rip through their catalog of hits is going to be amazing. There is no better way to celebrate the anniversary of their iconic album 'Appetite For Destruction' than to present 'Appetite For Democracy' at The Joint." Original Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin joined the band on stage back in July for a hastily organized appearance at a Wedding in Saint-Tropez. Whether he, or any other members of the original Guns N' Roses line-up will be joining Axl and co. for the series of concerts in Vegas remains to be seen. Tickets for the event, which start at $45, go on sale this Friday.

People can bag on GN'R all they want, but these "AXL N' Friends, sell out wherever they go. Despite the hate here on UG, they are a huge draw all over the world. Get over it, GN'R hasn't been the original lineup since 1991, so get over your childish delusion that this is no longer GN'R, because EVERYBODY knows. Yet, they still sell out shows, go figure.

Agreed. The line up may have changed, but they're still good & IMO Chinese Democracy was a great album.

"..Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas between October 31st and November 24th" Expect the first show to start around Christmas then.

Lol. Vegas, where careers go to die.

Exactly what I was going to say. This is probably the death knell of GNR.

Haha, apparently people don't seem to agree with us. I'm a big Guns fan and I don't ride the "Axl N Friends" train, but if you look to the past, some great careers just flop after going to Vegas.

The only exception I can think of is Alice Cooper who recorded "The Alice Cooper Show" over 2 nights in August '77 in Las Vegas. Guess that wasn't really a residency though, just a couple nights of his "King of the Silver Screen" US tour.

The Alice Cooper Show is one of my favorite live records. I'm talking about the guys like Wayne Newton and Elvis.

The new line up had so much potential to be an awesome band around 2002/2006, but they wasted it and finally hit "Vegas residency" levels...
