Heaven & Hell have been forced to cancel all of their planned appearances this summer in the UK and Europe because frontman Ronnie James Dio "isn't well enough to tour".

The band's shows included Classic Rock's High Voltage festival, a headline slot at Bloodtsock's 10th anniversary festival, as well as appearances at Sonisphere in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

Heaven & Hell have issued the following statement:

"We have to announce that all forthcoming Heaven & Hell European shows have been cancelled as sadly Ronnie isn't well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time."

Ronnie James Dio has issued his own statement following the announcement:

"I would like to voice my great disappointment on the cancellation of the Heaven & Hell summer tour.

"Wendy [Dio, wife/manager], my doctors and I have worked so hard to make it happen for all of you, the ones we care so much about, that this setback could be devastating, but we will not let it be.

"With your continued love and support, we will carry on and thrive. There will be other tours, more music, more life and much more magic."

Thanks for the report to Classic Rock Magazine.com.

I guess they've finally had to cancel a show for Ronnie.

I can't really support post-OZZY Sabbath, which is really what this is. Dio has a good voice, and seems like a nice guy, but neither Ozzy nor Sabbath have been that good after the original Sabbath line-up. I hate to say I'm happy for this, but idk, I think I might be.

Are you high?! Here's the brief synopsis of Sabbath. The started metal with Ozzy and they brought it with Dio. Even if you watch the "Behind Th Scenes" on the Live @ Radio City Music Hall dvd, Tony and Geezer themselves say that they perform longer and better with Ronnie, whereas with Ozzy, the sets kept getting shorter and shorter. Get well Ronnie!

As long as Dio gets better

Sure you can, because this isn't Sabbath, this is Heaven & Hell. Ozzy did nothing in the original band except sing, Tony was the composer and Geezer was the lyricist. Tony carried on the legacy with an array of singers, and some damn good songs I might add. Get well soon Ronnie!!

I think you might be an ass. It's one thing not to like a band, but quite another to be glad that they canceled a tour because one of their members is having serious health issues.

Damn. I was really hoping they would go out this year to tour, but that was really hoping for a miracle. Still, get well soon Ronnie \m/.

True metal fans will understand. If he needs to cancel the tour for his health, let him do it. I'm just glad he's alive!

I wish Ronnie the best, I can't wait to see him back on stage after he's kicked cancer's ass. That being said, I'm so totally bummed they had to cancel, I was flying to Sweden/Norway specifically to see Maiden and Heaven And Hell this Summer, it was going to be a dream come true to see my 2 favorite bands share the bill. That said, I'm still going to Sonisphere and Maiden in Bergen, but it's not going to be the same without H&H =(
