North America will be in a short supply of love metal over the next few weeks. That's because Finnish rockers HIM have bowed out of their North American trek due to illness, as frontman Ville Valo has been ordered to rest. The band, who just released their "Tears on Tape" album, were scheduled to start the North American trek Friday night (May 3) in Los Angeles, but the first clue that there was something amiss came on Thursday (May 2) at the Revolver Golden Gods ceremony when Valo was noticeably not on hand to accept the band's Most Dedicated Fans honor. The group has issued a statement on their tour cancellation that reads as follows: "HIMs North American tour (which was due to kick off in Los Angeles on May 3rd at the House Of Blues) has been cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances. HIM's lead vocalist Ville Valo has been diagnosed with severe asthma with presumptive pneumonia. "Tickets for all dates will be refunded at the point of purchase. HIM will be back later this summer as part of the Rock Allegiance tour." Though Rock Allegiance tour dates have yet to be revealed, the lineup also includes Volbeat, All That Remains and Airbourne bringing their full-throttle sets to stages across the country.

Ticketmaster is not aware of this. They just sent me an "Event reminder" e-mail for the Toronto show.

ouch, that sounds awful. I could totally understand bowing out due to asthma, that is a scary condition when an attack comes on.

It is good that he is in good hands getting treated properly even though he can't fly anywhere yet.He has quit smoking for good, you can tell by his voice when he sings (recent cd) no raspy sounds...the lungs take years to recover however... I read they think that it started from the smoke in Los Angeles from those fires that got his asthma going.. I wish him the best...hope he recovers well.
