In addition to having been a professional wrestler and the star of the reality television show "Hogan Knows Best" in his time, it seems that that Hulk Hogan was also a musician in his younger days. Hogan claims that he was offered a position in Metallica playing bass while the band was still starting out.

In a recent interview with The Sun (via Gibson), the heavyweight champion spoke about his days as a session musician as well as his friendship with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

"I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler," Hogan said. "I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out."

As well as talking about his experience as a bass player in his youth, the wrestler also provided his opinion on the famous rock group The Stone Roses.

"I love The Stone Roses," he said. "They're getting back together, right? That's cool man. I used to work out to some of their songs."

The Metallica thing's a bit of a surprise but I never would've expected Hulk to be a Stone Roses fan. That's really cool.

I could believe it, little weird but not impossible. I remember watching Hogan fight classics like Undertaker, Macho Man, Andre the Giant, Rowdy Roddy Piper...and then I grew turned 6 and realized it was all staged, my life was ruined and I shortly turned to POGs to seek relief.

As a die hard wrestling fan and a die hard Metallica fan, I can see many many loop holes in this story. Hogan's just desperate for attention since nobody cares about him anymore

I don't believe it. Lars was 18 in 81 when Metallica started meaning Hulk was 28. If they really were "big pals" chances are they were friends for a few years. Why the hell would hulk, a grown ass man hang around with kids? inb4 he claims Goku asked him to join the Z Fighters

Having a picture of Kirk totally makes sense when you're talking about when Metallica first started out.

Hogan's one of the biggest bullshit artists out there who'll say anything just to keep his name in the spotlight . He's screwed over so many of his fellow wrestlers just to keep his place at the top spot of the card. He's nothing more than a egotisitcal piece of shit. I'm sure Metallica would've made mention of this if it were ever true.

I know he legitimately did play bass in his younger days, so I would not be totally supprised to find out this is true.

hahaha not even april 1st! funny stuff would have been badass to see hulk hogan in metallica lol wow
    Amuro Jay
If that actually happened I would probably be a Metallica fan. Hogan is the man. He should play bass in Foo Fighters. All that facial hair...
    silent caution
hogan just needs to go away...retire in life you the rest of his days signing autographs for fans...what he turned tna into proves he has completely lost his mind
    smouch3
what happens if you stuff up a song, does he Hulk up, rip his shirt off and smash his bass over your head?

I loved reading this!!! And he likes the Stone Roses. Didn't anyone read that part? Now if he had said he liked the Smiths I would have gasped!

I hear Brutas Beefcake used to play drums for G N R in the early 80's...and the Million Dollar Man was vicious on the slide guitar
