Iron Maiden will wrap up their current "Maiden England" European tour with a homecoming show at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, August 3, Hennemusic reports. Tickets go on general sale Friday, June 28 from the O2 and AXS websites. There will be an Iron Maiden fan club presale on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25.
In an effort to ensure fans get fair and proper access to tickets and do not pay over the actual ticket price through scalpers or second-hand brokers, the band have announced the London show will be totally ticketless (paperless) ticketing using the latest technology.
"We are all very pleased to round off this part of the tour back home to celebrate and it promises to be a great night," explains Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. "We used paperless ticketing on our North American tours in 2010 and 2012 and it worked extremely well and we received many positive comments back from our fans.
"With paperless ticketing, only those who actually pay initially for the tickets will get into the show so scalping is generally avoided. We are also doing everything we can to avoid any drain of tickets going to the secondary ticketing sites, which we feel make unfair profits from music fans and often lessen the number of tickets available to real fans, especially at the on-sale.
"We are once again arranging exclusive ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets, he adds. "We will also continue to run the draw for fan club members so they can be 'First to the Barrier' prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible and ask that they keep checking for details on our web site."
Following the O2, Iron Maiden will take a short break before playing North America, then Latin American stadiums and the Rock In Rio festival in September, and will finish the tour off with a return to the Estadio Nacional in Chile on October 2.
