Jack White Stages Medical-Themed Secret London Gig With Punchdrunk Theatre Company
Jack White staged a secret medical-themed London gig yesterday (July 2) in conjunction with the Punchdrunk immersive theatre company.

AsĀ NME notes, the show took place late last night in an office block off the Strand. Attendees were made to wear surgical masks after entering the building and filling out forms that saw them supposedly signing away their rights and internal organs, reports the Guardian.

Fans were then taken to a number of different "treatment rooms" in surgical gowns, completing tests and tasks in blue curtained rooms, including one in which they had to listen to different songs and then write down on a piece of paper how the tracks made them feel. Small plastic bottles containing whiskey were then administered to the attendees, before a patient was said to be contagious by the staff - amidst the bluster, Jack White and his band appeared and started to play a short set.

The show included renditions of "Lazaretto," "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," "John the Revelator," "St James Infirmary Blues" and "High Ball Stepper." After the final song, "Icky Thump," Clash reports that White collapsed and fell to his knees before being strapped onto an emergency bed and taken away. After the gig fans were handed "Prescriptions from Jack," which offered esoteric medical advice. The Punchdrunk immersive theatre have previously worked with Damon Albarn and are known for "Sleep No More," a longrunning adaptation of MacBeth in New York as well as London's the "Drowned Man," during which Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine recently made a cameo.

Jack White talked about his Glastonbury performance and recording habits on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show yesterday (July 2) as well as playing a selection of songs that spanned from new album "Lazaretto" to his early work with the White Stripes.

He plays a sold-out show at London's Eventim Apollo tonight (July 3) before returning to the UK for an arena tour in November.
