James Blunt Not Retiring

He responded to rumors from a recording studio where he joked "James Blunt has split up due to musical differences."

Ultimate Guitar

James Blunt has debunked reports that he is retiring from music.

It turns out that his comment "I haven't got any plans to do more songwriting" was taken out of context by the Daily Mail.

James had a sense of humor about the rumor which went viral on Monday, and wrote on his Facebook page: "James Blunt has split up due to musical differences. Neither could be reached for comment due to recording commitments."

As the post suggests, it seems he's actively recording new music, as it was tagged to Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood.

Blunt shot to fame in 2005 with his song "You're Beautiful", which was some felt was overplayed on television and radio. In turn, he was rated the "forth most annoying thing ever" in a 2006 poll, where he was beaten by queue jumpers, caravans and telemarketers.

Does Blunt deserve all the criticism, or does he deserve more respect for his work as a musician and soldier? Let us know your view in the comments.

That's a shame... Sorry, I had to. In all seriousness, he's not THAT bad, his voice is just really really annoying. But if that's what you want to listen to, go ahead...

"was taken out of context by the Daily Mail. " "Taken out of context" 99% of the press nowadays in a nutshell.
"Daily Mail" Now there's your problem!

    Oh, silly me!

Still UG copies the initial article. I still love you ultimate-guitar! *still waiting for quality articles that will prob. never come*

Oh, and last but not least; Blunt shot to fame in 2005 with his song "You're Beautiful", which was some felt was overplayed"
Half the world copied it, sadly. Another press publication problem.

Everyone copies everyone, even in the quality press. I read an article about Fender in one of my country's "higher end" news papers, turns out to be a straight copy from NY times =\
He might have been a good soldier but that has no relevance to his musicianship .
I think in his case it has some kinda relevance because a lot of his lyrics are related to his life as a soldier.
Tell you what my favourite music is metal... I saw James blunt live last year with wife and he was great... glad he is going to continue!!
UG, please check your articles for grammatical mistakes etc. before uploading them. "Forth"...
I saw him live at Glastonbury Festival once and I have to say he was very good. Great performance, great band. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I swear people who don't like him have probably only heard his radio stuff. He has much better songs. And he's apparently funny.
I think the dude is pretty good. Has a good voice (I cant sing that high and still be in tune), and he writes a good song I guess. Seemed like a nice guy in interviews too, more power to him
Oh, UG... if you didn't know how to spell "forth", you could have always just made it 4th. We, as the UG community, would understand... after all, we are the most understanding community on the internet.
Arguably, James Blunt was responsible for preventing World War III when he refused to attack Russian forces despite being ordered to do so. His song is still annoying.
Last week: James Blunt retiring This week: James Blunt not retiring Next week: James Blunt maybe retiring?
As much as I'm not a fan of his music, he has a pretty cool attitude to just about everything. He's just so laid back, I remember seeing him on Top Gear once, just all laughs. =)
I remember that, he was upset that he wasn't the most annoying thing in britain
I wish I'd be the judge to that dicision. I'd make the most annoying thing to be UG's news articles. Actually scratch that, it's just UG articles, it's not news at all. Just bickering and chit-chat about what's going on with people's personal lifes more then actually music news.
he has a cool last name.. that's pretty much it though
Not like the Daily Mail to not get their facts straight... (British Newspaper equivalent of fox news)
Shit...you mean I bought all these party supplies for nothing? What am I going to do with 6 gallons of punch, 10 bags of ice, and a 60" diameter cake that says "James Blunt Is Gone!" in frilly blue icing?
I'm guessing the first news was just a way of making some news at a day/week where they couldn't find much to talk about. Let's just say that he is going to retire and then he's coming back because after all, nowadays it's about making the news, not just informing people on general commun interests.
