Johnny Depp And Keith Richards Record Pirate Songs

They were among the acts who contributed to the pirate-themed album on Tom Waits' record label Anti Records.

Johnny Depp has recruited The Rolling Stone's Keith Richards and a host of other rock legends for a pirate-themed album.

"Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys" is a double-disc collection of traditional pirate songs to be released on Tom Waits' Anti Records in February.

Other guest stars on the album include Iggy Pop, Courtney Love, Sean Lennon, Broken Social Scene and many others. You can see the full list of collaborators in the track list below.

The album follows a similar 2006 compilation, but producer Hal Willner says: "It is a very different record than volume 1. This one seems... happier? Not as much about torture, sodomy and death, which will disappoint some but, we don't need to repeat ourselves do we?"

This isn't the only piece of rock action Depp has gotten lately.

At the weekend, he appeared as a performer at Alice Cooper's 12th annual Christmas Pudding concert in Phoenix, alongside Sebastian Bach, L.A. Guns, and Don Felder of the Eagles.

One month ago, Depp also appeared on stage with Cooper during his show in Los Angeles.

Tom Waits and Keith Richards in one song . Damn.
They've recorded a lot together, check out Tom's Rain Dog's album to hear some great songs. Jockey Full Of Bourbon is classic Keith guitar. On a side note I will buy this solely for the Todd Rundgren track. Anything else is just icing
This looks so good minus the inclusion of Courtney Love. And for ****s sake if youre gonna include her on it dont put her on a song with Michael Stipe.....
no Rime of the Ancyent Marinere or Friggin' in the Riggin'. Looking forward to Shenandoah though
Second time through the chorus Cooper sings "out for ever" when it should be "out for summer"... Good thing it wasn't into the mic ha. Also, i don't think there are enough guitarists up there. I'm surprised they didn't invite the whole UG community
'"Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys" is a double-dic collection ...' You forgot the "k" in "double-dic". You're welcome!
Patti Smith collaborating with Johnny Depp sounds pretty awesome. Good to see Richard Thompson on there too.
I know he sang little bits on his movie..but a full album?I never would have thought...
This is reminiscent of that album Stevie Nicks did with Depeche Mode and Funeral for a Friend
Sounds like the piano wasn't the only thing drinking when they came up with this.
Depp is a pretty good musician... I believe hes been a guest on some tracks of some pretty well-known acts (didn't he play guitar on an Oasis song or two)? Seems like hes assembled some pretty awesome guests for the record too.
