Jon Bon Jovi: 'Its Getting More and More Difficult Not to Talk About Sambora'
4
Jon Bon Jovi has been speaking to the Evening Standard (via Classic Rock) about Richie Sambora's recent absence from the band. The singer has noted that he is finding it harder and harder not to disclose the details of the guitarist's departure:

"It's getting more and more difficult every day to not just sit here and say something ... Because all I can say is this - it's for personal reasons. He's been through it before, fortunately for us the same guy who filled in last time was available this time.

"Life goes on, so if someone chooses not to be here ... unlike if this were, God forbid, The Edg, and he for some reason couldn't make a U2 show,[then] it would be very difficult to just step in.

"You have a choice - you either figure it out, go and grow, not only survive but thrive. Or, you say, 'I hate my brother and I'm gonna quit the band.' "

Bon Jovi also spoke about his frustration with Justin Bieber's recent spate of late arrivals at concerts, claiming that the singer has let down his fans: "Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They wont have you back. Then it just becomes a cliché. It's really not cool - youre an as-hole. Go to f--kin' work!"

"Because all I can say is this - it's for personal reasons. He's been through it before" sounds like drugs

Sounds like Jon's trying to imply it's drugs, giving him a reason to kick Sambora out and not seem like the bad guy.

Jon Bon Jovi: "Sambora isn't as important to Bon Jovi and The Edge is to U2." Richie Sambora: "Dude, WTF?!"

No body dismisses the power of Sambora.

Yeah, wtf is that? Nothing against the Edge, but most of his sound comes from effects, anyone can do that shit, but Sambora is... well... Sambora!

That was absolute crap of him to say. If you watch any documentary about the band, you'll realize Jon's a dictator who relies on his bandmembers a lot more then he'd like to admit. Richie should get the rest of the band to quit (shouldn't be to hard, he was the one who had the highest tolerance for Jon), get Alec back, find a better singer (shouldn't be too hard), and start making good music again, unlike the crap they've been put out on the last two albums.

That quote about the Edge and U2 made no sense whatsoever.

He's saying it would be harder to replace the Edge than Sambora. Possibly true but kind of insulting to Sambora.

Phil X rocks, but I miss sambora. Saw them live last year in Greece. I was not disappointed, but not excited either

Bon Jovi lost my interest with These Days the year I was born. The albums before were great but apart from a few singles in the last fifteen years I just cant listen to them. That being said, Slippery When Wet got me into music.

    Bon Jovi are shit

I agree. They are shit...but they were great. They've gone with the trend. And go with the trend is money :/ Reminds me of a quote of a good band: The trend is deeeeaaad!

He's probably so frustrated because of news sites like UG constantly posting about it and blowing it way out of proportion...

Geeze, Jon, you must be right -- I'm sure you THINK you are always right. "You have a choice - you either figure it out, go and grow, not only survive but thrive. Or, you say, 'I hate my brother and I'm gonna quit the band.'" Either cliches or I hate my brother with no in-betweens? So your life is story-book with your high-school sweetheart wife and the stability all that brings and some people aren't so "set" in their life. Some people DO have things to work out aside from promoting your stupid band. Grow up, Jon.

Lol to people who dont get the Edge comparison. He's trying to say that it is harder for someone else to step in and deliver the U2 sound than to step in for Bon Jovi. Even more extreme would be Muse comparison, for example Bellamy. You would need like 3 people to do the job
    Rocknrolla35
Well, i wouldn't say that. The music U2 puts out is most of the times, much simple than that, what Bon Jovi put out. It's more the visual aspect of this all. Comparing Richie and The Edge on how much do they visually look as an integral and irreplacable part of their own respective bands, The Edge looks more like one, than Richie Sambora does.
