Kesha Recruits Iggy Pop For New Album

The original punk has joined Ke$ha in the studio for a track on the album she claims will "resurrect rock".

Kesha Recruits Iggy Pop For New Album

Ke$ha continues her foray into the rock world, this time collaborating with Iggy Pop. The pair were photographed in the studio, Iggy shirtless as usual, with Ke$ha tweeting her enthusiasm at working with one of her idols. The track will appear on her next album, which she claims will "resurrect rock": "People say that rock and roll is dead, and it is my mission and my goal to resurrect it in the form of my pop music," she said in January. "That's the goal. We'll see what happens." Ke$ha's attempts to step into the rock genre seem unwarranted, but Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has also been helping to produce her new album, and thinks we might be surprised with the results. "She's a lot of fun and crazy and open to ideas and she's creative," Coyne said after joining her in the studio. "She's all these things that you don't know." Will you give Ke$ha a chance with her self-named "cock pop" genre, or should she stick to the club hits that made her fame? Let us know in the comments.

It's virtually impossible to express how many things are wrong in this "statement"...

I hope she has fun doing it.

I don't really see anything wrong with this. I think its great if pop acts and hard rock acts want to get together and collaborate. Its all for fun, so why does it matter? It's just for the sake of trying something new, and that can't hurt.

One, "Ke$ha", get out of music. Please. And take your c**ting glitter (and "cock-pop"...) with you. Secondly, Iggy this one's for you. Do you own any t-shirts?

I'm sorry, U-G, are you actually suggesting that someone has no justification for creating music? Are you actually trying to imply that, because someone's previous work has not been to your taste, they are somehow breaking social etiquette by making more (perhaps the same, perhaps different) music? I must have been mistaken all this time, I always thought that people could try anything they want. Silly me, thinking we live in a free world where expansion and experimentation is encouraged.

I think we may all be a little bit surprised if the album turns out to be pretty good. Saying that, it is a pretty big "if".

    My thoughts exactly.

I've commented before, much to everyone's dismay, on how Ke$ha is satirical. She was a songwriter long before she came out as a solo artist, and has been in the business for a long time. Whether you like it or not, everything she does is for a reason, and this whole drunk rock chick thing is clearly the next project. It might be awful, it might be good. Either way I'm curious as to how it will sound.

The laughable nature of this article aside, is Ke$ha wearing a bra on the outside of her cardigan thingy? Or is that just the print design on it?

She should just go away, I cant stand her trying to "resurrect rock" with her crappy pop music. She is currently one of my least favorite people on earth.

Any time a pop star claims they're going into new territory or trying to be a rock star it ALWAYS turns out to be shit.

Artists, in the end, make music for themselves. The fans can choose to like it or not. I didn't realize experimentation in music was a sin.

Lady Gaga with Alice Cooper and Now this? I hope THEY do revive rock....but this still seems like bullshit.

I don't like Kesha, and to all the fappers out there, she's probably a guy, but I appreciate her/his dedication to the good cause. So why don't they give it a spin and if it's shit, well no one will care, and if it's good, it's good. Besides, Iggy was awesome on that song with Jemina Pearl.

With auto-tuning these days, people can go into a recording studio, basically just yell into a mic, completly off pitch, and with auto tuning come out as a top 40 "hit". I, personally, say screw pop music. Rock and metal all the way! Oh yeah, and a little bit of light acoustic stuff too.

It may just be me but I think what's really going on here is she wants rock fans to like her and there are some rockstars that want to bang her. She gives them one wild night and they plug her new album.

Fuck Kesha. Lady Gaga is the only real musician in mainstream pop right now. Kesha is just trying way too hard at something she's bad at.

IDK, I like Kesha. I say there is no chance in hell iggy is hitting that.

if rock n roll is dead, and kesha is trying to "Resurrect" it, by kesha even trying is basically cremating rock n roll, pouring the ashes into a river, and then shitting in the irver

Sara Bareilles trumps all three. Also it depends what you class as mainstream cos there'll always be songwriters around like Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran who even if you don't like you have to class as musicians.

"People say that rock and roll is dead, and it is my mission and my goal to resurrect it in the form of my pop music," if it hasn't already then Rock and Roll just went from dead to spinning in it's grave!
