Killswitch Engage have invited their fans to audition to become their new lead singer. The metallers parted ways with frontman Howard Jones last week and have now offered fans the chance to submit vocal demos through their management. Posting on their official Facebook page Facebook.com/Killswitchengage, they wrote: "We've been getting a lot of inquiries about the singer position. If you are interested, please send an MP3 or a song link, a photo and a brief description of yourself to the email provided." Killswitch Engage toured in 2010 with Phil Labonte of All That Remains standing in for Jones, but he has already ruled himself out of becoming the band's fulltime frontman. The band's original vocalist Jesse Leach, who left after the release of their breakthrough album "Alive Or Just Breathing" and who also stood in for Jones in 2010, has also been linked with a permanent return to the band. Jones has also posted a statement about his departure, revealing that the process was entirely amicable and that his health has suffered from the rigours of being in the band. He wrote: "As some of you may know, I've had a pretty interesting couple of years, to say the least, battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and, to be honest, they are the ones that kept me going." He went on to say that he could not get excited about the process of writing a new record and that it was the correct decision for him to leave the band. He wrote: "Recently, we've all been in writing mode, but somehow I couldn't get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight, I now realize that my heart wasn't in it". Thanks for the report to NME.com.

If I wasn't a skinny white kid with weak screams, I might have a better shot.

They're never gonna let a fan start singing for them, this is gonna be like when Metallica invited the fans to try out for the position as bassist: they're gonna use the publicity to get people's attention and then pick one of their friends or people they know from other bands.

I don't even listen to this type of music anymore but heck, if I hadn't blown my voice out in 2010 I'd do it.

this is just beyond ridiculous. If Jesse is available and wants to return i don't see why they would audition anyone. And i hope he does, seeing as the album he did with them was the best they have ever achieved, and one of the best metalcore releases period.

What does this even mean, does it mean he might do it?

I'm 99% sure about the fact that Jesse isn't going to sing for KsE again. I know much of you want him to be the new singer, but don't expect too much of it

I hope the new singer will bring a heavier sound to the band just like Alive Or Just Breathing and The End Of Heartache.

I think I am ideally qualified for this role. I have previous singing experience, as I once had to sing for my supper, which I duly recieved. I know all the words to R Kelly's I believe I can fly and Seal's Kiss from a rose, and once I hit a high note. I have never been in a band, but I have been told I look like David Bowie.

If only I could scream, singing I''m ok with but any attempt I do at harsher vocals just sounds pitiful Best of luck to potential new singers and the band though x

I don't want Jesse, he's good for what he's done...but i don't want him singing Howard's parts. i just don't. I would rather KsE go with what someone said a while ago about the singer from Bury Your Dead's It's Nothing Personal album...cause he's a sweet singer...KsE wouldn't sound the same, but that is just destined to happen now anyways. UNLESS Jesse comes back, and I just don't want more old stuff now.

Velvet Revolver should do this for a new singer. Better yet...Howard Jones in Velvet Revolver! lol

My vocal range reaches their songs but I don't have anywhere near the power of howard's singing, screaming is fine, I can exhale and inhale(if required but unlikely for kse). I need vocal lessons to be anywhere close to howards voice and lyrically I think would be fine.

Jesse Leach would be incredible back in the band. I loved the Times of Grace album! obvious chemistry there

I remember when Limp Bizkit did this when Wes Borland left the first time.

He's good on the record but his voice doesn't have the stamina for a proper tour. That's one of the reasons he left kse in the first place was because he kept blowing out his voice and since kse have become much larger and no doubt their tours will be longer than from the first record then he definately won't be able to be consistent live.
