Killswitch Engage Reunite With Jesse Leach

Killswitch Engage have found their new singer in Jesse Leach who formed the band back in 1999.

About one month after the shocking newsfeed on Killswitch Engage's Facebook profile, describing that Howard Jones had to quit the band due to personal reasons, we can surely assume that KSE's search for a new vocalist has been completed.

Jesse Leach, forming member of the band, has been picked after revealing several rumors about reuniting with his former band. That shows the band's homepage. The band is currently producing new material and preparing for a European tour in early summer 2012. In a recent interview with Australia's Loud magazine, Leach was asked if he has been approached to rejoin Killswitch Engage following the recent exit of his replacement, Howard Jones. "I'm not going to comment," he responded. "Everyone wants to know I'd rather those guys go through what they've got to go through and whenever they make that decision They're good friends of mine, so I'm respecting their space at the moment. It's more fun, more mystery, too; you don't have to know everything. These days everybody is on Facebook and tweeting everything that happens. What's happened to the mystery of music and not knowing everything?" He added, "My viewpoint is to respectfully step back from the situation and support them. Whatever decision they make will be the right one for them and I look forward to what it is." Leach spent most of the past year touring with Times Of Grace, his collaborative project with Killswitch Engage members Adam Dutkiewicz (guitar) and Joel Stroeltzel (guitar). That band's debut album, "Hymn Of A Broken Man", came out in January 2011 via Roadrunner Records.

This will be interesting. Howard has had a good crack at Jesse's songs, now lets see how Jesse handles Howard's songs.

Damn I preferred Howard over Jesse but he did great with the ToG album. Methinks this will be good no doubt about that. Can't wait to hear more of Howard in the future, sad to see him leave from KsE..

Kind of surprised to be honest. Was hoping for Tommy Vext, as he would fit pretty good I believe. I'm excited to see them this summer with Jesse though, I'm wondering if their new album will be more like Alive og first Self-titled album. Always liked Jesse, he did a great job the first years.

It's a shame I can only downvote you once...

I'm the same way, after hearing Howard doing My Last Serenade it's almost like hearing a cover version when I listen to the album version Leach performed on. I'm still optimistic though, absolutely love this band.

Alright! Great news. I agree that Howard was a better singer/screamer but Jesse is such a better lyricist. After listening to the Times of Grace album I can't wait for this new KSE album. Hopefully this band will find that spark that was missing on the last record.

Do Jesse and Justin have the same beard but in a different colour? I can't say I'm surprised about this. It was going to be Jesse all along ever since Times of Grace.

I hope they don't base the set around old Jesse material, most of the band's fans are gonna want at least 50% Howard material.

Had doubts but it makes so much sense. I loved Howard's vocals but I'm sure Jesse will be as good as he was in ToG. He was a bit raw in the earlier KsE stuff, thus I preferred Howard more.

My guess why you disliked it was because of the lack of metal vibe and more melody singing. I thought it was cool. Wellthatslikeyouropnion, man.jpg
I respect your digression and while I would like to argue that it being less metal was not the reason for my displeasure with it (given the way my tastes were changing at the time) I will grant you the point that my dislike of the album came from it not being what I had come to expect from the band. Which, coincidentally, was a metal sound. Also, I accidentally deleted my own comment. Whoops.

personally, after seeing the Times of Grace album, I can't wait to see what he does with KSE. Jesse's a beast.

It wasn't even less metal. There was some actually heavy shit in that record. The problem with it was that it was bland. Unbelievably bland. Times of Grace, however, WAS less metal, and it destroyed the 2009 self-titled.

Hopefully their next album is better. I'm unsure about how he will be able to sing Howard's songs though, I think Howard is a much better singer

I'm actually surprised by this, Jesse had said he wouldn't be rejoining. How is he going to balance this with recording/touring new material with The Empire Shall Fall?

this will be interesting to see how the new album sounds given how KSE has developed musically since jesse left so the new product should be incredible.

Actually pretty happy about this. Alive or Just Breathing was a great album, and I just disliked KSE during Howard's years so I haven't listened to them in a long time. Hopefully there will be some definitive throwback to their early days sound.

I actually stopped listening to KSE when Howard joined. It just wasn't the same. I also really liked the Times f Grace album so Jesse joining back the band is a big plus imo.

Kinda come full circle. Jesse quit the band back in the day because of personal reasons. Now Howard has quit for personal reasons and Jesse is back in. Howard is a much better vocalist than Jesse (but go figure, Howard is a professional trained singer). It will be interesting to see Jesse try to pull off Howard's stuff.

This is gonna be great, hopefully Jesse and Adam will use the same vocal melodies as they did in Times of Grace...

Tommy Vext is working on a new band with Andrew Jacobs from Mutiny Within so I think he was kind of off the table. Pissed MW is done but the new material sounds freaking awesome

Eh. As good as he was in KSE, I liked Jesse the best in Times of Grace. Hopefully the new KSE release is as good as Hymn of a Broken Man.

Howard and Jesse are both amazing vocalists. I got into KsE about the time Howard joined and wasn't much a fan of Jesse's stuff. It did grow on me (especially after that last KsE album which I wasn't quite fond of). Once I listened to Times of Grace though, I was really hoping for a reunion.

It's actually called "Just Barely Breathing", but I agree. Their absolutely best track.

Naw, look at the picture! They're so cute! Why can't more metalcore bands look like this instead of manga characters?

Yay my comment got cut off. "I'm sure I'll get downvoted to Hell for not saying "OMG JESSE

saw that coming a mile away... i personally prefer KSE's older stuff with leach.

Jesse's range is more than enough to sing the good songs on The End of Heartache, and there's not really anything from the following two albums I really need to hear. So if they just don't play most of the Howard-era songs, that's fine with me.

Jesse sucks live. I saw him with ToG in Atlanta and he sounded nothing like he did on the album. Its a proven thing he cant even sing his own songs. This ruined my day.
