Linkin Park are set to headline 2013 "Sunset Strip" music Festival, following in the footsteps of the Doors, Motley Crue, Slash and Ozzy Osbourne.

As Loudwire reports, this year's event rolls out from Aug. 1-3, with the final day becoming a street fair featuring the festival's biggest acts. As usual, Sunset Strip clubs the Roxy, Whisky A Go-Go, Viper Room and House of Blues are all filling their stages with a variety of performers throughout the music weekend.

In the band's posting about headlining this year's event, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda stated: "We played our first shows as a band in 1998, on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. When we were approached about an opportunity to play a special show on the strip, we couldnt say no. We are excited to announce that well be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, CA on August 3. This time we mean it ... this will be the ONLY US show for the rest of 2013."

By "this time we mean it," Linkin Park is referring to the declaration that their Las Vegas show back in February would be their only North American performance of 2013.

Additional acts for the 2013 Sunset Strip Music Festival will be announced in the coming weeks.

They music may not be complicated as some other, but they can bring the shi* down live, sure as hell(especially Chester).

Who said that enjoyable music should be very complicated? Anyway, I don't understand the hate around them. Let it be, but it's just not the point.

I don't get why they're so determined to not let the U.S. have any more shows this year. It better be because they're hard at work on the next album.

I'd guess it's that coupled with touring the rest of the world. They have that opportunity now, and that's pretty awesome.

No, it's really because of the new album making. Their international tour schedule is pretty empty - just five shows in Asia for 2013 in August
